Default How to: changing 6MT trans oil

Tools that you need (not shown is a oil dump container to drain your old oil and washers)

Different specs about the torqs and such.

Start by jacking up the car and setting up everything.

again, another 2 holes how-to

A better picture of those 2 drain plugs.

I started by the trans plug. Take your torq bar with the 21MM socket and sqeeze it out. Watch out, lots of oil will be pouring down.

Take your 14MM and torq wrench, unbolt this plug out and let drain. At the point, you can remove the dipstick so it will be draining faster.

I let both of them drain for a good 10 min.

Since I was on jackstand only on the front, I jacked up the rear of the car and some more oil poured out, another maybe 2 min.

Remove the oil pan and replace the 2 plugs.

just a little view of those plugs.

Well, it says to change the washers so for those of us who want to be extra safe...
Clutch side - 803926070
Oil Pan - 803916080

insert the funel into the trans hole and fill it with your oil

Check the level of your oil and you are done!

I'm sorry, I couldn't get a better picture of the dip stick.

I don't see why you would change the washers, you should be fine

They are very thick washers actually, they wouldn't "crush" like the crush ring from the motor oil plug.

Again, good how-to, just read your rear diff too. I'm marking these for future reference.

Very nice write-up!

How do you like the Motul? Did you have grinding or crunching before the change?

Well, around 2k miles on my car i did a coilover install and one off my boots came off from the tranny and leaked a lot of gear oil out. I went to pep boys and the only good brand i found was Royal Purple so i topped off my tranny with that. Ever since then my gears have been extremely loud and sometimes (rarely) grind.

Now im at about 15k miles where a tranny fluid replacement is recommended, so today i got Motul 300 and plan on doing this oil change today.

Thanks for the awesome write up, i also plan on doing my rear diff (using your write up) in the next day or two.
