Default Two shims/backing plates on front brakes?

Hi, I'm swapping out pads and there is 2 items behind the stock pads, one is the size of the pad, and the other is a partial piece that the pistons actually contact. Do I re-use both of those things on the front, or just the shiny partial that contacts the pistons. The new pads have a piece of metal on them that is approximately the same thickness as the full size backing plate. I have the car on jacks right now, so a prompt answer would be awesome! Thanks.

leave them out. make sure to use some caliper grease or somthing with the new pads.

my 06 had a really thin shim that the pistons made partial contact. I used hawk hps and I left those out. What pads are you using?

I'm going with the Satisfied OEM replacement pads from tire rack. This car will see little or no track time, so I'm just going with a lower dust pad. It was $75 for front and rear pads, so we'll see how this goes. I left the partial piece in, and took out the big shim. I think that should about match how it was originally set up. I am using the goo that came with the pads between the shims and the pads.

Sounds good.
Let us know how those pads work out. I remember seeing another post about someone wanting those.

i got my pads from Tic, the stoptec/posi-quiet ones...i think something like 80 bucks for front and rear, but i did reuse the smaller shim with the backing plate that came with the replacement pads and lots of goo all around..... had them like this for about 4 weeks with "zero" noise coming from the pads
