Default How To: Install JDM Auto I/C Switch

Alright guys, here is the super easy how-to on how to install the jdm auto i/c switch. I bought the switch from So JDM ( great vendor, but make sure to request the free shipping upgrade otherwise it will take a week to get to you). also, for those of you wondering the advantage of upgrading to the jdm auto switch is that it essentialy it works as a on/ off switch.....no more continually pushing the button! you push it once to turn it on, and again to turn it off..

this is what i got from SO JDM

here is how it looks from the factory

here is the switch we are going to be installing

1) pop out the the fuse box panel below...

2) use your middle finger to depress the tab on the bottom of the button to pop it out....after that it will look like this.....

3) then pull the switch out

4) depress the tab on the back of the plug to remove the switch

5) now comes the tricky part that not many people know about.....in the switch thier is a insert that allows the switch to clip into the plug, however the jdm switch is designed backwards so you have to pop out the usdm switches's insert with a small flat blade screw driver, and insert it into the jdm one....here is the jdm switch with the usdm insert inserted.....its the white piece in the inside of the switch..

6) snap it back in, followed by the fuse box cover, and your done it should look like this

now push the button with your key in the ign position and check to see if it works!

Mods please notice my great how-to i need more pm box capiblity!!!

You know you could have left the factory switch in, added the JDM switch and done the boost reference mod. You leave the switch on and when ever you hit a certain boost threshold your auto switch will spray for 5 seconds.

Does the switch light up like the factory switch? I am planning on doing this mod shortly, since my OEM switch no longer lights up. If I follow this will the new switch light up... anyone know??

Thanks,
Josh

the bulb probably burned out. take out the switch and you can replace the bulb.

bs the two round colored pieces (one blue one grey on the jdm i can't remember what color they are on the regular switch) on the side of the switch house the bulbs. twist the piece counter-clockwise with a screwdriver and the piece pops out with the bulb attached. one doesn't have a bulb attached. the bulbs are at radio shack.
