I bought one and installed it on my 07 STI. I was running the Cobb stage 2 tuning and wanted a little more boost. I then had it Protuned by XXtuning and they told me to take it back out before I came down for the tune. They said it was a bad choice so she is out sitting back in the box on top of the toolbox.
With that said, get it tuned and let the tune take care of the boost levels..

I don't think a mbc is a bad idea. Well then again who the hell am I, as I have never tuned a car. I am just saying from what I have seen, some of the fastest stock turbo stis use mbcs. Why? I can only say their tuners believe that the mbc gives very quick spool, can keep from boost tapering so dramatically, and has better response than stock. Please search others who have used it, as mbc has a stigma in the subaru world due to people misusing them.

are ^^^ you two kidding or what. to me believing that mbcs = blown engine is stupid. If you are ignorant and after being tuned for 18 psi, change the setting to 22 psi for more P0W4R, of course that is bad idea.

I don't have a mbc. I am debating between hallman rx pro, and prodrive solenoid, or nothing at all. I daily drive my car, and don't need the exta response a mbc provides. But please find a tuner if you are just starting out. I say this because only someone who is comfortable with tuning it can make the best use of it. Also, tweaking settings, then doing datalogs to determine how much boost you run does not sound too safe to me, so please find a tuner to help you with your set-up.

Some of the best performance can be attained safely with a MBC with a matching tune for its parameters. Solenoid type boost controllers offer good performance as well, but a MBC is gonna be more precise and consistence with your boost. And a good tuner will be able yield safe reliable gains in both the horse power and torque department. The only problem with MBC are uneducated car owners who turn up the boost beyond the set parameters of their tune. So don't be stupid people! Leave the MBC at its set adjustment. If you want more power? Your gonna have to spend more money for more performance. Speed is not cheap. Just my 2 cents.

MBC + TUNE = good
MBC & NO TUNE = BAD
trying to get more boost then tuner recommends = bad

I recommend Hallman pro RX MBC
