Well I got my zap straps all in and snug... I put 5 only because the bag came with 10 so I figured if I was going to do the passanger seat I would want the same amount...

To be honest, it does feel a bit better, but not much...

I got my wife to sit in the seat and jump up and down while I was under looking at it... and this is what I saw...

The 3 middle straps don't even touch the springs at all even when the seat is at full compression!

However, the far left side and right side straps do hold up the springs and do give them support. To tighten the straps I just took a pair of plyers and yanked on them... When the seat is fully compressed the straps do flex a bit more than I was expecting....

If you look you can see that the far side L/R springs actually hang down quite a bit more than the springs in the middle of the seat.

With this observation, I think one might get the exact same feeling with only using 2 ties on each side of the seat....

The next option would be to find a piece of board or wood to place on top of the middle straps so that the springs are actuall being supported by something!

Keep you posted!

Jay

Interesting. With my hand I was able to compress the seat from the top quite a bit...

I'm going to check with my wife. I need two of her to equal one of me though.

Would it be better to use 3 instead of 4 maybe? Spaced equally? Maybe the 3 would be enough to stiffen things up a bit but not too much to lose side bolstering. I'm wondering how this would work for my setup. I went to a Spec C Type-RA v9 direct take off suspenison. The 4 way adjustable STI struts with the JDM pinks. I am at the 3rd setting right now and there is way more bobble head then I had with the stock strut/spring combo. Would be nice to get rid of the bobble head for cheap and keep the setting at 3.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The way the springs under the seat are arranged, its an arch with the top of the arch is right under the middle of the padding. I was looking into putting something on top of the zip tie(between the zip tie and spring) so there would be less travel. or I was considering maybe looking into using the zip ties the coils of the spring, so they'd kind of be a "web" type. but you'd probably need 100+lbs zip tie just to support these springs individually.

I also had another idea, maybe since its an arch design. you can zip tie end to end where the bottom of the arch springs are located. Just a thought

I did this today only to the drive side so i could compare the stiffness and i must say it feels nice! I got the 175lbs 24" ones at Home depot for like 5$ zipped 2 together and used 3 under my seat. I didnt tighten them fully because i didnt want to feel like i was sitting on a stiff piece of wood. But like everyone said for $5 you cant lose!

I was looking at the passenger seat and noticed they don't have those two bars like the drive side. I was wondering if anyone else ran into this problem?

I will report back if I find a retail source.
The ducting section at home depot sells them or they are also available in the electrical section as well.

just from my experience with a set of jdm ver.6 sti seats compared to the usdm seats i prefer the softness of the usdm's. But the ver.6's do have a firmer bottom portion with better bulstering.

I'd look into getting a set of jdm ver.6 sti seats if you like the firmer bottom.

But from getting the sti i prefer the softer bottom portion because my butt hurt on longer drives. Plus i don't get the lower back ache anymore with the usdm's. My GC was brutal on long drives.

i installed the ver.6's in my friend sti they sit much lower, thats a plus for us tall guys.

Plus the harness setup reduces the bouncy ride alot also.
