hardware stores-lowes/home depot have them but I dont know how long they are, but they are that thick.

On second though just Get pulled over and ask the cop if you can have some of his "cheap handcuffs"

Unless you want to tie multiple together, 35" is as short as you'll want to go.

Right. The ones that I have are 36". When you take the slack out of them, you have enough to get a good solid grip with one hand.

When feeding them through, just be careful of the airbag sensors underneath the seat so you don't constrict anything.

i was there yesterday, and didn't see any big ones, but i was also not looking for any.

just make sure they can hold a fair amount of weight. your fat ass going over a bump is more than just your normal weight.

Just did the seat modification. I'll go for a drive this evening after supper and let you know my thoughts. I left a tad of play in the zip ties. I pulled them hand tight but didn't but the pliers and full-body leverage to them.

Ya gotta be careful not to constrict or yank your airbag harnesses and such, too. I'll his 696 this evening and see what kind of difference this makes.

BTW - I am using 175lb 48" zip ties from Home Despot.

Typo- or on purpose? I always call them that.

This is a definite improvement for me. My suspension is still completely stock, and a good chunk of the bobble is gone.

The downside is that lateral support from the side bolsters is nearly nonexistant. I was sliding around a fair amount during AutoX, but it's more than a fair tradeoff.

I'm not the one with typo problems. I always call them that, too.

I must say that there is a difference. As I drove Woodward to Telegraph and back on 696, I noticed that bumps would jostle me as usual, but that was all. It stopped after that. The seat honestly doesn't feel that different, but there is a noticeable change in behavior.

If you do not feel as though you're getting support from the bolsters, you might have the zip ties a wee bit too tight. I know Ben said he used pliers to get an extra couple of clicks from the ties. I didn't use them. Those extra few clicks may be making the difference, but who knows?

I'm debating whether or not to do the passenger's seat.

I haven't done the passenger side yet, because I figured I might want to change them.

I may just re-do them looser after a week of driving. I could always re-tighten them if I do not like it.

How much were the Despot ones?

I was always under the impression that the seats had springs that were too tense...THAT is what causes the bobblehead...I don't know about you guys, but this doesn't make sense to me... Wouldn't you want a seat with a bit softer spring/softer material to allow more absorption from the bumps in the road? Putting something like that under the seat and making the seat harder would be like sitting on a piece of wood and driving around town. It just doesn't seem right...

Personally, I feel the stock STi seats are much TOO stiff...which makes one sit ON the seat and not IN the seats like most racing buckets.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I'm a bit confused with this. Hmmm...I may try it just to see what it does...either way...NICE!

Kind Regards,
Ryan

The springs are so soft that they allow you to bounce up and down on them. If they were stiff, they would not flex, and cause bobblehead.

Try it and you'll understand.
