Default GT30R Install Questions

Thinking about getting a perrin GT30R kit & FMIC, Fuel pump / injectors. Wondering how long this will take for an amateur wrencher. Just to give an idea-- a TBE install took me ~3 hrs (i'm sure I could do it again in 1.5 hrs). Anyways, it is a bit of a scary task, but I'd appreciate some input on how long this would take me and how complicated it is. Would you reccomend someone like me undertake it, or send it to a shop? Also, if I did it myself, would I have to get it towed to a shop to be tuned, or would I be able to drive it?

If you consider yourself an amateur I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. Figure on a weekend if everything goes smooth. Also, you would most likely not be able to drive it unless whoever is going to do your tuning is willing to give you some kind of basemap.

I just finished switching my car over from stock location/tmic to rotated and fmic. Not step by step detailed, but my journal will give you an idea of the steps that it will take and some of the potential snags you might hit:

Thanks Trevor. Anyone in the tristate area who is familiar with this install, and might be willing to help out for food, beverages, cash, anything else? Just dont want to blow all the money on taking it to a shop, and not even get the experience...If I'm going to pay, I'd at least like to play as well.

i say go for it man. if anything you can go onto the forums to ask questions if you run into a problem, and you will learn a hell of a lot in the install process.

my suggestion first though, is to find multiple threads on everything you need to install (turbo, fuel pump, injectors, fmic, etc) and just read like hell. make sure you have a great idea of what you need to do. thats what i do, and it helps a LOT. just dont go in there not knowing anything.

hey if youre confident in your skills than go for it..its really not that hard, ive done a few kits and its about during everything proper and not half ass it..its much easier to yank the whole intake manifold then just try to throw the injectors in there, take your time. I have it down to 7hrs for everything the first time it took me 12 hours, good luck with the intall
