Default APS CAI on '07 STi

Hello all,

A couple of hours ago I began install of my APS 65mm CAI on my '07 STi, and I just wanted to let anybody know that is planning on purchasing that intake, should think twice. It is an awesome looking piece, but the install is a little more involved than you would think. First, the hole in the fenderwill not fit the intake through, therefore I am in the process of dremeling the hole out for the intake to fit. Also you should probably fashion some sort of rubber grommet between the intake and the hole due to the clearance being so tight. I am using a piece of sliced vacuum line. Yeah and you may need some red touch up paint if you are picky to touch up all the scratches you put on it wiggling it into the hole. Just my 2 cents. I just hope the filter fits in there.

Did you take off your wheel and the plastic wheel well lining?
You'll need to do that in order to get the filter on there. The biggest pain in the a$$ is getting the intake itself into the fender. Like Ikon said, you wont see any of those scratches when its all the way in the fender.

You'll have a different opinion about the intake when the install is all over and you take it for a test drive.

I got the littlebugger in there, however, in order to get it to bolt up I had to trim out the hole some. With my mad dremel skills you can't even tell. HAHA. Actually even after I upsized the hole, there was very little clearance. Its in now, and it looks and sounds good I just hope with my tune in two weeks its will help some. I did this and a big TMIC and I wrapped my turboand downpipe yesterdat also, and today is the fuel pump.

Hehe im not a jammer, i like to finesse it. I also like to cut stuff. It fits nicely now though. And a short review, i thought it would make the car jerky etc, but it didn't car is running really smooth

Just installed my 65mm last night. What a pain in the A$$. The hardest part was getting the filter element on the pipe once in the fender. Actually I am concerned about mine becuase there is a metal braket on the fender that prevents the filter going over the lip of the APS pipe. I was able to tighten the clamp and there are no gaps, but I really want to get it over that lip.

BTW- I definitly notice much better response and quicker spool of the turbo. Butt dyno can not tell a deifference though. Also the sound is awesome. I am going to get bad gas mileage for the next few weeks.
