Default Wrapping Dp

Im wrapping my DP this weekend and I wanted to know how wet to get the wrap before putting it on? drench it or almost mist it? and how long should I allow for it to dry before installing it? any info would be much appreciated

I dipped mine in a small tub of water, wrapped the pipe and let it sit in the sun for a day before spraying it with DEI 2000F hi temp silver paint. Be prepared for a minor smoke screen, just make sure it's good and dry before installing it, you'll make even more smoke if you install it wet. Also, don't wrap all the way up to the edge of the bellmouth flange if you're wrapping something with a large bell like an Invidia, the wrap will get in the way of the nut at the bottom side of the flange and it can be a pain to fit a socket on with the wrap in the way. Stop the wrap like 3/4" short of the flange or cut the wrap away from the flange at that spot.

Spray keeps water from my AC from wetting the wrap. When I installed my DP, the guy helping me just cut my drain tube at the firewall instead of re-routing it so now water just drips on my downpipe Plus I didn't like the way the DP kept shedding the wrap material, nasty stuff.

I didnt wet my wrap at all when I did mine. I used the copper wrap which I have heard is easier to wrap dry.

the idea of wetting the wrap is that it becomes more plyable and easy to work with. plus when it drys the wrap shrinks making the wrap tighter. but to wet is not easy to work with on a polished down pipe. it wants to slide off. use a spray bottle.
