Default How to remove plastic screws on undertray?

I use to change the oil on my integra all the time. Now with the sti theres a plastic undertray in the way. I tried to take out the bolts, but i broke one so i just gave up and left the tray on and did it as is.. turned out pretty messy. So its time to change the oil again and I want to do it right this time.

Sorry for the noob question, but how do you take out the self taping or plastic bolts (whatever they're called)??? thanks!

If you take a flat head screwdriver you will see how there is a lip towards the edge of the plastic clip. Pop it loose and the center of the clip should come out leaving the out ring. Pull it out about 1/4" then pop the ring that was left behind down. The whole thing should then slide out and you will be able to see just how these work. It might take some wiggling but it will come loose.

First time I tried pliers and ended up with a blood blister. Then I pried at it with a screw driver and BAM it popped right out.

I broke a few of the plastic screws cuz they were so damn stubborn sometimes... but a flat head came to save the day

you might want to have your oil changed at the dealership if you can't handle the plastic pop-rivets.

The clips trap dirt granules which cause them to be hard to remove. I tap on them a few times to dislodge the dirt. Then pop them out with a flat blade screwdriver, then remove the 10mm bolts. Works pretty well.

the key to these plastic screw is to not pull the center clip all the way down. if you do, you'll just open up the prongs again. if the whole thing doesn't come out easily, push the center clip back up a bit and pull from the ring again. it should take little effort to remove them.

go buy yourself a 30 degree or 80 degree snap on plastic push pin puller, its worth its weight in gold! haha, but really, one of the best tools ive ever bought and i use it everyday, makes pulling out any push pin a breeze
