Default Slip-Fit leak on catback, suggestions?

Alright gurus, I need your help/input. My Ti catback uses a slip-fit connection in between the axleback section and midpipe. It leaks.

It was leaking like crazy so my friend and I tightened the T-bolt clamp down so much that the bolt broke. Got a new bolt, but the clamp was slightly malformed on the opposite end because I think the Ti didn't want to compress at all, forcing the clamp to bend around it. Fixed that problem for now by using some spare paper gasket material I had, but I may order a brand new clamp if I have to.

Question... where do I place the clamp so it will best seal? The beginning, middle, or very end of the slip-fit sleeve? So far I've minimized the leaking by placing it towards the beginning of the sleeve.

Question 2... should I use this gasket maker? Will it help? If so, how should I apply it? Will it have any adverse affects to the Ti metal? Will it withstand the heat of the exhaust? I know EGTs are highest near the turbo and cool as they travel towards the exit, but will this stuff withstand the heat? The slip-fit resides forward of the rear axles/diff.

Permatex High-Temp Ultra Copper RTV Silicone Gasket Maker

Thanks in advance for your help.

My friend told me not to use RTV because it will not work well... instead he suggested I get another clamp to offset the leaky part of the clamp, which sorta makes sense. I have gotten it to only leak where the bolt section is, so I guess I will try this first. If anyone else has any suggestions I am open to them, thank you.

I would love to be able to help you but I didn't install my exhaust. I would call World One, they are great. Sorry.

Uh oh... frustration bump... thanks anyway crand002.

I worked on it again after work, keeps leaking... might just take it to a shop and have them re-install it just in case I missed anything, but honestly I don't know.

Mine rubbed b/c I didn't line things up properly at first and it almost ate through my exhaust. Keep an eye out.
After messing with it all last night, I am giving up. I've been told by many people that slip-fit connections should not leak even without the clamp and should be VERY SNUG. There is too much play in my sleeve. Even crookid7 who has a JIC Ti system has no problems. I have to contact JIC or WorldOne now.

Yeah, definitly contact JIC or world one. It's not your fault that you're having this issue. If anything you'll just get a whole new exhaust if you send that one in.

Go to Napa, AutoZone, PepBoys, whatever. Buy a Band Clamp, stainless steel preferably, in the diameter of your exhaust pipe. Wrap it around your slip fit and torque it down. Say goodbye to your leak.

This is what they look like.
