Default turbo xs hybrid bov

ok, please don't flame me because I have a BOV. How do you know how many washers need to be put in under the spring? It doesn't blow off much and it kinds flutters on the turbo side in mid-rpms. When I gun it, it sounds like it blows off twice, once on the intake side and then from the bov. Any thoughts? I don't want to trash my turbo, but I do want the bov on. I also have the K&N typhoon intake and am running AP stage 1 on an 07 STI.

it sounds like compressor surge. doesn't sound like the BOV is working properly. how many washers are in there now?

Compressor surge = too many washers.

When it surges there isn't enough pressure to open the valve.

I took out all the washers and reset my computer and it is a lot better, but still not perfect. Even when I had the stock bypass valve on and the KN typhoon I still got the "blow off" sound from my intake side. It still drives fine and pulls hard. Its mostly coming out of 2nd or 3rd gear that it does it.

I bought a used turbo xs bov off ebay awhile back. I had it installed for ~17 hours, including sleeping. It did nothing but surge.
I cleaned it, lubed with Marvel Mystery air tool oil and installed it one evening at home.
Drove to work the next day, after the first couple purges, did not boost anymore on the cummute.
Removed at lunchtime.
Sold for a $20 profit.

I have been interested in the Synchronic BOV/BPV for awhile now. I just found a new vid on Youtube where the designer actually demonstrates it's ability/design characteristic where it will act as a bypass when the engine is in vacuum.

On our cars, airflow will flow thru the MAF, and then backward through the BPV tube to the valve and into the I/C on the throttlebody side. (using a TMIC)
So some air will bypass the turbo and I/C piping and core completely. Greatly increasing throttle response and decreasing pumping losses.
Will have the same effect with a FMIC system as well.
On a MAP setup like the S2000 demo car, do not need to recirc.

Valve reacts ultra fast to snap throttle inputs and closes lightning quick. Opens just as quick and is a pull design like the HKS SSQ so it will not leak. but outlet flow far exceeds the HKS.

MSRP is $220. My next purchase.
