Default Installing A/F ratio and Volt gauge?

Couldn't find a write up for those gauges... If it doesn't exist yet - how hard is it to install them? I'm planning on getting ProSport premiums.

two things...
AIR/FUEL ratio is debatable.
The most simple kinda is the regular one and If I still remember the old stupid way was to connect it to your O2 sensor by the downpipe or somewhere similar; then they came out with the ones that have a sensor. This sensor is usually put in by making a hole with a drill, in WRX/STi's it's usually good to do it in the uppipe. A lot of people say you can just remove the STOCK sensor and put in this new one. Nowadays you can also buy Wide Range AIR/FUEL ratio that includes a bigger probe and better results.

Volt Gauge....
I've yet to meet the first STi or WRX owner with a voltimeter... I think it's connected to the alternator but to be honest and IMHO it's useless....nowadays batteries and alternators are great and if something goes wrong you'll definitely noticed. It's not like an oil pump, because if it's going bad you will start noticing a decrease in the pressure.

I think that covers it all.
If I'm wrong anyone is free to correct me.

I see.. thatnks for the comparison. I've heard that ProSport electric gauges plug in to some ECU connector or something like that, not to the actual exhaust.
Anybody installed an electric A/F gauge?

my bel 65 pro radar detector acts as a volt meter. I connected it to the mirror power, and it typically reads ~14 volts. if I accidentally leave the AC on when I start the car, it will read ~12.5 till I give it some gas. So i think you can probably connect it pretty much anywhere...

For A/F I'd drill and tap the downpipe about 8" behind the turbo (if the sensor breaks, better to have it go into the cat or out the exhaust than to kill your turbo) and put the sensor in there, then just run the sensor wires through the firewall plug.

umm that's kinda odd...the only gauge I know would be connected to the ECU will be the RPM(tach)
I dunno, I mean I've never seen a "prosport" gauge, maybe some pics bud?
anyhow, If you have a STI or WRX, I'd highly recommend BOOST/Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature......EGT is good only after some tuning(some tuners debate when to use an EGT) and a voltimeter, blah, who needs batteries anyhow haha

I think he means a narrow band A/F gauge. The ECU has an A/F narrow band gauge, but it's completely useless as far as watching the health of the engine. The narrow band will just go from rich to lean and back and forth and give you nothing. If you want a nice bliky light on the dash, go for it, otherwise, get a wideband A/F.

problem is, I only need boost, actually. Two other gauges can be anything.. EGT is a problem, since my DP doesn't have a dung, and I don't want to drill it. I don't do any auto-x so spending 400+ for it is not worth it to me.
So I'm just looking for 2 gauges that I can install by myself easily and be done with it. =)

WELL my friend! you should have said so earlier!
if you want two gauges that are definitely IMPORTANT and easy to do, go with OIL PRESSURE and OIL TEMPERATURE.
they're BOTH extremely easy to do with an oil filter sandwich, it's a metal plate that goes between your engine and the filter and it has I think 3 holes dedicated for gauges.
* Oil Temp
* Oil pressure
* Oil Cooler lines.
I'd say go to ebay, get the sandwich for like 25 bucks and then get two gauges, OIL PRESSURE and OIL TEMP are definitely important and they're easy to do bro.
later
