Is everyone using the area for the spare tire jack for their jack stands? It seems like it'd bend after some time.

I have been using the center of the subframe reinforcing plate where the jacking plate would be on the 04-07s... It has some big ribs right where I put the jack and is pretty damn heavy duty. It is half covered in plastic....

No issues so far....

According to the service manual, that still is the proper garage jacking point for the '08. Someone posted a picture from the service manual and it was under the General Description - Notes section, NT-5 I believe.

I put my 08 on stands today for the first time (rear only) and the only suitable place I could find was what I believe is the rear suspension's front subframe support plate (based on THIS diagram). Would definitely like other people's feedback on the proper place to put jack stands on the new car, with pictures if possible.
PS - thanks for the diagram above! Very helpful to know the Subaru approved jack points.

Where I put my stands today:

As has been discussed in this thread. The jacking points just inboard of the pinch welds are where the jackstands should go. You missed them by about 5 inches there.

You really shouldn't support the car by any suspension braces (especially ones that were designed for horizontal stresses) unless they were designed to carry the weight of the vehicle.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured I was wrong. Next time I will put them just inside the pinch seams. Is that what those rubber flaps are for?

So, it sounds like on the '08, it seems like the "jacking plate" or the "front crossmember" are the most convincing places to jack up the front end safely. Are these terms just different names for the same place? It doesn't look to me like there are a whole lot of reasonable places to put the jack under the front of the car. So, although austin's pictures are really clear, they're zoomed in kind of far to the point where I'm not exactly sure where I'm looking for this thing (and the diagram from the service manual doesn't look particularly clear to me either). I found a semi-decent picture of the entire '08 STi underbody, and circled in blue what I *think* austin is putting his jack on. Can anyone confirm if this is correct, or show where it actually goes?

^^^ the front jacking plate is not as clear on the '08 as on previous models; the pictures are from my '05 and it doesn't look quite like that anymore. I haven't really poked around enough under the '08 yet to figure it out.
