I would never put jacks on those seams.

Here is the proper (and Subaru recommended) way to jack your car:

I'm sure they work fine, though I have also read that people don't like to place stands on the subframe. But I wouldn't say the jack stand points are "Subaru recommended" - I have never seen anything official from Subaru on that point.

Here are the jack stand pics, re-hosted. The actual jack points used in that thread (front plate and rear diff) have been shown already.

The pinch welds as jack points are only to be used by the oem jack that's in the back of the car in case of emergency as it has a slot designed to support the car at that point. You WILL crush those pinch welds by using a standard jack and supporting the weight of the vehicle on jack stands.

my friend has the same jack as the one in the OP. i just took some cardboard, bent it into a square so that it had like 3-4 layers, taped it up, and put it in between the jack and my rear diff...i think it worked great as a cushion to protect the diff...

Thanks for that! It looks like almost the exact same spot that I'm using so I feel better .

Thanks for the crystal clear picture. That's where I would like to put the jack stands. I think this looks like the most solid spot anyone has come up with yet.

When you put your jack there, where do you place the stands? I think it would be easier to jack up on the crossmember / rear diff. and put the stands where you have your jack.

I was wondering if that was subframe or just some plastic - it's covered in plastic I guess to help with corrosion but I didn't know what was under it.

The plastic you mention is just some aero-dynamic bling. There is steel under there. You can easily pop this plastic off and investigate to give your self a mental picture of what it covers. Thats what I did. The body jack points are a necessary evil on a lowered car. I would much prefer to be able to reach the spot shwon in that perfect picture.

*Nice jack BTW
