So, you can still jack it up, but it won't be as stable, right?

Yeah, there has been about thirteen people killed in this area this year from cars falling on them. All were because the automobile crushed them. Sad thing is... over half were trucks. How?

1.)Don't ask me but they took all four wheels off had the truck on jack stands and left it there working on who knows. After two weeks the guy went back to work the exhaust and the entire truck fell on him. (If the wheels were on he'd of lived.) The truck was a heavy dodge 3500HD on 1ton stands...

2.)Someone was working on their civic to put snow tires on. Jacked the car up and from the report the guy dropped the socket under the car. The 4ton jack cylinder was shot and the car fell on him.

There is a bunch more but the point is... use common sense. There is no reason to take the tires off at all and if you do... get a jack stand that is rated if not more for the car.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THESE SPOTS POSTED ABOVE !

These are parts of the rear diff support (forward).

They are flimsy metal and will easily deform. If they are warped or bent, the rear diff support can change position and casue BAD NVH.
The metal itself can bend and contact the other bracing aorund it.

I've used this spot a bunch of times in the past with no problems with deformation or increased NVH. As you stated, it's probably not the best spot but it works. A lot depends on the design of your jack stands as well. I had a lot of trouble lining up my jack stands so that they would sit evenly on the insides of those plates at times so I started using the inside area of the pinch welds and now that's the only place I put my jack stands.

On the GR, what is under the front jacking point?

Yea I have to agree with this. I was concerned when I read the post not to use that spot because that was what I was using, but looked into it a little more and there is nothing that can bend in the area of that bushing. It goes directly to the subframe.

While installing my turbo back, I tried using the raised and strengthened areas just inside of the pinch welds that the stock jack rests on. Well, one slipped in the back (my jack stands are kinda big) and I thought for sure I just put a hole in the rear of my car. I quickly jack it back up and inspect. It slipped just inwards, but other than a few scratches in the under-body paint no damage was done for the loud "bang" that I heard. Not even a dent.

I looked more into the area inside the pinch welds and came to the conclusion that it's all pretty robust. There's about a two inch wide section front to back just inside the pinch weld that can take jack stands, not just the little raised sections for the factory jack. In fact, I don't think I would personally lay under a car where the jack stands were placed in those locations. Already had it slip once, and don't feel like doing it again.

This is all for the GR chassis, by the way.

Oh, and the GR's front jacking point is right where the undercover ends at the back. There's a black piece of metal partially covered by the undercover, but there's enough exposed to put a jack up to.
