you would have to drill bigger holes in the plate delete, to get bigger screws to thread in.

I'd use the 3m double-sided tape. Should be able to find it at any local autoparts store.

There is no way I would remove the bumper for something like that and Perrin is silly to assume that people would want to do that in order to provide free advertising.

I had the same issue... Not the most appealing solution but... Use the screws it came with, and just screw them into the bumper(be very carefull).. Before everyone winces, it worked fine for me and I can live with 2 screw size holes if I ever decide to remove it...

Arrow Re: help! perrin front plate delete.. alternate way to install?

I have the Auto Speed Performance as well.. came with two self tapping security holes...

I think your looking too much into this as far as attaching it...

All you need are TWO of these:

Get the little tool at home depot or even radio shack.. It's a Security Torx bit.
Total cost will be NO more than $6 and that should include two screws, bit and TAX.

The tool looks like this:

Don't worry about what is HOLDING the bit, as thats the dude's tool all you need is a simple socket screw driver which everyone should own... if you don't own one I'll mail you mine..

Don't worry about the holes that it leaves afterwards because the plate is supposed to cover up the dead spot where you would NORMALLY have a license plate and or license plate bracket + license plate.

See pic of mine for reference: This is an OLD pic but the plate remains the same...

Actually found an OLD picture of my car BEFORE The plate install...
Notice the TWO big donkey holes.... that plate covers those, and no matter what even if removed those hole would always be there... so don't worry about leaving holes as your most likely always going to have the plate on unless you live in a state that requires a front license plate... I live in Virginia, they DO require a front license plate, however I have my car registered in PA... so the nice thing is I don't have to ever have a front plate... nor can I get a ticket for my exhaust, tint..etc..hahaah But that's a WHOLE nother story..lol

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT:
Going crazy with pictures but figured I will get ya as much as possible...

Bits: This is NOT my hand... my hands are 100% cleaner! I don't have dirt under my nails plus my nails are shiny.. not that I am weird or out there, it's just that chics dig guys with nicely groomed hands that are soft... not sasquatch hands that feel like sand paper...

more bits... I guess if you have to have MORE than the other guys....lol

Screws:
Good link!
http://www.tamperproof.com/index.cfm...ction=products

They even have more styles than I knew were possible... I dig the TP3®...Security to the third power. (mainly because it says To the Third power...)

NORMAL Torx security screws:

Snake Eyes:

Standard:

Philips:

Make sure you get the ones above that are POINTY... those are SELF TAPPING. Meaning they are "digging" their way into the material so that no fastner or nut is required on the BACK side of it... MUCH MUCH easier install and LITTERLY takes 20 seconds...

Do NOT get a screw that looks like this:

As SIMILAR as it looks see how the END of the screw is flat.. this requires some type of nut to thread into... This is still a solution but now you have to find the correct nut to go on the back and then you are still cramping you hand or having to remove your bumper...which = Weak Sauce!

Hope all this helped.

-Nigel

ok, i got it on EASILY today. i got plastic plugs that fit right into the stock holes. i than screwed the screws that came with the plate, right into the plastic plugs thread. it fits right in, and is very snug.
i got them from the service dpt. at my dealership.
ask for the "plugs that fit into the lisence plate holder if the holes are too big"
they snap right in. just get the right size.

ill go take a picture of them soon, just so you guys know exactly what they look like. i have 2 extras.

I did the same.....I received this plate as a gift from my gf. After noticing the holes/screws weren't self-tapping or the backside wasn't accessible to get the nut on the back of the bolt.....I started wondering if I had to remove the front skin......talked with Perrin and they said unfortunately you do......well I found these plastic Bell license plate plugs at AutoZone and they worked perfectly...had to tap a lil first to use the Perrin screws (not self tapping)....but its in there for sure now! I love the plate and the overall outcome.

Just adding in my 2cents.
