well, If you dont want to cut it jsut mount everything losely ans see if it will fit. Then just tighten down everything. Cutiing it is way easier though. Its more simple than it looks.

Sorry for bringing this thread back, but..

this is probably a dumb question, do you take the diffuser out first and cut it? Or can you cut it with it still attached to the car? Anyway to do this without a dremel?

i dont think it matters whether you take it off or not but itd probably be easier to do with it off the car. If you dont have a dremel, you can just use any old saw to cut it off. It wont be pretty but it'll work

I cut mine from the outside edge(exhaust side) to the heat shield. I had about a 1/4 inch of material left on the diffuser. you can't even tell it's been cut. -----------------------

__________l l
-----------------------
^cut(solid line) - probably won't be more than 1/4 plastic left

Your talking about the stock diffuser on the 07 sti right? Just making sure cause I have the HKS carbon Ti exhaust and I want to get the APR Rear Diffuser. I hope my exhaust will still fit with the diffuser on. Anyone have that problem?

A little late to the thread, sorry. Has anyone considered just trying some Kartboy long exhaust hangers to see if it will give the necessary clearance? I am having the same clearance problem with my Fujitsubo PowerGetter and rear diffuser and bought the hangers but havent tried putting them on yet to see if they provide enough clearance. For now, I just took off the diffuser.
