So a k&n panel filter and bette air flow would be better than a short ram?

i just did this today and i think it is spools up faster, as for the sound i cant really hear anything unless i turn the radio off and pay attention, compared to the K&N short ram its nothing (when i had it).
I have the Perrin drop in and i dont really hear the pss sound, as people say they hear when they put the K&N drop in, is ther any difference between these 2 filters?
Nice write up btw!
thanks

for those with K&N drop ins how does your car run? you don't need tuning just for a new air filter do you?

no. its just drop in and go. i guess you could(or maybe should) reset your ecu. i ran the cobb amd spt short rams with stage 1. hated how the car felt. did the silencer delete, and put a K&N drop in. I'm very happy. Honestly, i hear a decent amount of psssst. not like the short rams, but its defiantely noticable with the silencer delete and K&N. The car feels great as well.

That is correct. If you have a CAI the tumor has already been removed.

I did it today and it sounds great. Question though... is there any reason to put the modified elbow back on? I like it just the way it is without anything on there. I don't see how its any different that a CAI sitting down there, so I am not really worried about water. And the air still passes through a filter.

Is it safe to leave it off completly?

Yeah it's fine. I left mine on because I still have the snorkle attached....I doubt there is much diffence but I do like the fact that with it on hot air (in the engine compartment) cannot work its way into the wheel well....

Great post. I'm going to be doing the mod this weekend. I'll probably just take out the silencer and snorkel scoop, plug the hole closest to the headlight, and let the fender direct air to the box.

I don't know much about air flow, but if you hacked the "tumor" to have 3 holes, couldn't air from the snorkel scoop possibly blow down into the fender?

I was thinking of getting some flexible hose tomm. and attaching it to the intake box, close up the 1st hole, run the hose to the front somehow. If only I had a fog light cover satin pearl to drill a hole into haha... i'll figure something out.
