Default GT-Spec rear diff brace

Just installed the GT-Spec rear diff brace using the TurnInConcepts install instructions

TiC rear diff bushings

The TiC instructions were a great help...and I did as suggested when it came to removing the diff Studs.

The only things I would add for the GT-Spec install are the following:

1. On the STi, remove both connections to the diff temp sensor. This will allow you to get the brace out. I didn't focus on the second connection at first.

2. Grease the outside of the bushings on each end of the brace. This will make sliding the brace into position much easier. I also greased the housing that the brace slides into on the car.

3. Grease the Bolts.

4. Install the Passenger side Bolt first. This will allow you to move the brace around and get the bolt in. Then, when you do the Driver side and you need to "help" the bolt in, you will have enough room to do so. There isn't any room on the Passenger side to do that.

5. When you go back to install the Studs, start them by hand (you are going into aluminum). Make sure you tighten the top bolt down. When you go to remove that top bolt make sure you are not backing the stud out again...it's a pain to line those suckers up. I started off with a box end to watch for any Stud movement.

I was glad I had a pry bar...made moving the brace around much easier and I could make small adjustments. Also nice to have a 17mm deep socket.

The stock bushings feel like warm butter...I was surprised at how soft they were.

was the bushings and the brace worth the money and the trouble? did it make a big difference. Because honestly i don't feel nor hear much of a clunk when i shift. Besides the noise were there any other advantages?
