Default Water-Temp Sensor

I am going to be installing some Defi gauges and I am wondering where I can stick the water temp sensor besides cutting the radiator hose and installing a T-fitting. Is there any galley plug on the block, similar to the oil plug underneath the intercooler?

Thanks,
Mark

it might seem like a pita to pull of the lower hose and cut and place a temp sensor but really isnt. you want to place the sensor where the coolant is the hottest and thats when it comes straight out the bottom. theres plenty of lines running around, but thats where you will see the hottest temps just before it enters the radiator

Don't you mean upper radiator hose? Isnt that the one coming off the motor then then going back to the motor on the lower hose?

You could also use the line coming off of the expansion tank that goes to the turbo.

I thought the upper rad house is where it goes back into the engine because of the way the thermostat is. For the coolant to push on the thermostat and open it, the coolant has to flow from the rad to the engine through the upper rad hose.

All the cooling systems ive seen have been set up this way. (I haven't seen the one on a subaru but im assuming its the same on all vehicles, but I may be wrong.)

thats right, it comes out of the top cooler and runs to the thermostat. thats why if the temp of the fluid is to hot, the fans come on. so the hotter fluid is coming from the bottom

Could you rephrase it? The thermostat is in the top coolant hose (not in the bottom one)?

ugggg! the coolant comes out of the block via the bottom radiator hose....then travels through the radiator and up throught the radiator hose.....wherer the radiator hose connects back to the block thier is a big nipple or pipe where the hose connects to (where you radiator hose clamps are) housed inside this thier is something called a thermostat.....a valve opens when the coolant reaches the proper tempature......i believe thats how it works but someone correct me if im wrong

Negative, the thermostat is where the bottom hose connects to the block.

Sounds like either way, you still want to install your fitting for the sensor in the bottom hose
