Grab the file "STI UTEC v2.3" from there. Inside is the UTEC install guide. You can follow the part in it which tells you how to remove the ECU. Pictures are included as well.

Sorry to hear about the fried ECU.

disconnect test connectors, try starting car, plug connectors back in, try reading ECU..

my AP "froze" kind of once. I know its highly reccomend not to unplug it, but I did anyways, and then just did the above, and worked fine for me.

did you screw up using a v1 or v2 ap? Because there is a fix for a v2 screwup

1) plug in test connectors(fans will not come on if ecu is down)

2) plug in AP and choose uninstall. then you will be prompted to confirm and click OK and the AP will uninstall, save and revert back to stock mode. (mine did not work the 1st time i tried to uninstall it so i called cobb and he said just do the process over again starting with turning the car off and sure enough it worked)

3) turn car off and unplug AP(if uninstall is complete, your fans will come on)

4) plug in AP and turn key to on

5) install AP again and choose your preferred map.

Very easy to take out. Just lift up the carpet on passengers side floorboard, you should see a square box with a few clips and alot of wires going to them. Pull the the clips out and unbolt ECU. But make sure battery is disconnected just in case ECU is not fried! I have seen many cases of frying an ECU b/c battery was still connected and giving power! Sorry bout ur ECU and good luck.
