Default Trunk Non-Skid for $20 and 20 Minutes

$20 Craftsman Non-Skid Trunk Matte
So I got a little idea and decided to roll with it and pray for decent results…

Parts/Tools Needed:

1 roll - Craftsman Toolbox Drawer Liner

1 roll – Blue Painter’s Tape

1 – Black Sharpie

1 – Some Really Nice, Sharp Scissors

On a clean, flat, elevated surface, or your garage floor roll out the “rubber” drawer liner. Pop your trunk and remove your carpeted spare tire cover or trunk “floor”. Lay it carpet-side down on the drawer liner and position it so the liner will be towards the back of the car when installed. Take the painter’s tape and tuck it slightly under the trunk “floor” while applying the sticky side to the drawer liner. The tape is where you will trace the silhouette of the trunk “floor” onto the “rubber” liner.
Once your layout is done, go ahead and install your carpeted piece back into the car. Use your mom’s best scissors to cut along the line you have transferred to the tape as smoothly as you can.
Install your new non-skid surface in the back half of the trunk. Go buy some beer, drive like you stole it and be happy when its right where you left it in your trunk. It’s a cheap, quick solution to the threat of abusing your beer with your STI.
(If you are really ambitious, create and STI stencil and paint a big, red STI logo on your non-skid to add a little style..)

The car is at Livermore Subaru getting the STI "clunk" replaced with two new "clunks" and some lateral links. I'll get pics up tomarrow or something. Thx for the positives guys, the matte works quite well.

Drivers Side in the pouring rain..;]

Passenger Side in the same rain as I hide under the trunk lid..lol

It really works pretty well. I may have mentioned that "fender grippers" work better, but nobody would help me to have some made with STI logos.. I may experiment and try and find another type of rubber/foam to attach better to the trunk carpet. We'll see. For now, things stay where I put them in the trunk. :]

That is a great idea and it looks so clean too. Could be OEM. Great work. I like the idea of a big STi logo across it.
