My gosh. This is one of the worst things I have ever seen. Why would anyone do that? Furthermore, the STI already has a nice adjustable shift light with sound. The tach on the STI is a beautiful thing.

Wow... imagine that thing going off at night.. red light all up in your face!!!! damn..

it's your car but why would you get another shift light when your sti already comes with one WITH sound? you have all those aftermarket gauges but got rid of the Tach gauge which is probably most important(well, almost got rid of it) I know that stock shift light is not "all in your face" but it's there..

Well the reason I'm considering another light that I can mount up by the a-pillar is that my steering wheel blocks out the one on the tach, and my car is too loud at WOT to hear the beeper. Not saying the stock piece isn't perfectly fine, I just can't see it when I have my seat and steering wheel set. Agreed though that the big red shift light with digital tach is way too much.

Awsome, I've read good reviews about it, but the WRX guys are afraid of it because the kind of launch control it is. Are you catless? or better yet what's your exhaust set up.

Yes, catless. Current exhaust is a highly ported Perrin DP and home-made cat-back.

I ran 3" stainless into a Borla 3" straight through muffler,.....then made a stainless 2 7/8 velocity stack that reduces to 2.5" and installed it into the backside of the Borla. From there, 2.5" mandrell bent pipe to behind the axle, where I have a 2.5" straight through Magnaflow muffler with a 2.5-3" Gibson tip welded on.

Basically, 3" from turbo to about where the rear of the center console is,...then a slow reduction to 2.5 and staying 2.5 to the tail.

My only worry regarding the launch control was the O2 sensor picking up the raw fuel durring the shifts, and leaning out the car. This happens with BOV's. The engine spits out a rich blast because intake air gets vented, but not the equivelant fuel,...the computer sees the rich blast thanks to the O2 sensor and says "holy smokes,..it's rich",..and leans out the engine. Then you finish your shift and until the gas pedal is to the floor again,...the engine is running lean.

But in my case,...I'm thinking the ECU will stay in open loop because the gas pedal stays all the way down,...and so the ECU won't be reading the O2 at all. So the raw fuel going out the header won't have any effect so long asfull power occurs for a second before lifting. This will get the O2 happy again.

The other issue was a valve thing,...but that never made any sense to me. If there is a combustion-like event in the exhaust,...wouldn't that just press the valve against the spring seat/valve spring more? Can't imagine any circumstance where it would press down on the spring seat (which is in the rocker cover) and not the valve so as to dislodge a spring seat retainer.

Well I know that the way the valves mount on the EJ25 and the way they mounted on the EJ20 are different. From what I understand since we don't use the same shim method as the EJ20 then we don't have to worry about dropping an exhaust valve in to the cylinder like the WRX's do.
