you dont need to replace the fuel filter at 30k or your spark plugs. Also the fuel filter cant be that bad since their is a panel in the trunk to get to it. I would say you do it since the dealer wants like $400 or more.

I would be careful with flushing the coolant system with water. If you are using distilled, maybe, but if you are using regular water you will get all kinds of crap (deposits) inside your system and it will (with very high usage) eventually restrict more and more. If you are changing coolant every 30k you will be fine without flushes. You have to remeber when these guys engineer these engines they run tests with the same oil and coolant for dozen thousands of miles without replacement.

Hi,yea funny enough i just booked my 05 sti in for the dreaded 30000 service! Dreaded because every dealership i phoned for a quote told me it was a big service, and yes they said the spark plugs would be replaced.and basically all the fluids and filters aswell.I would be interested to know how much it costs in America for this service, because over here in Belfast N.Ireland it translates into about $1000!!!Cheers,Davy.

I'm kinda crazy for car maintenances and for my 40k cycle I changed the coolant and replaced it with water/Inugel. Also gonna do my brake fluid this weak end. I'm also changing the plugs soon and it says on the manual to change the Pcv valve for those of you that are still using it. I did my trans/diff fluid and filled it up with royal purple.

Used oem oil filter for my engine and motul 8*** oil but for the next cycle i'm gonna use Amsoil.

I was at the dealer the other day and they said that I dont have to change my plugs and fuel filter at 30k. So theyre basically charging over 500 to flush all the fuilds in the car and replace them and thats not even w/ synthetic. Thats crazy

i think the panel is under the passenger seat
id be very careful doing the fuel filter yourself
i thought about doing it
then realized that gas vapor and fumes in my garage wouldn't be such a good idea
i dont want to DIAF

If you're planning on upgrading your fuel pump you'll have to go into the fuel tank anyway and it isn't hard, just be sensitive. Also, nobody just sells a "fuel filter" for the STi. Unless you have an older subie the filter is in the tank. They make you buy the whole fuel pump/filter unit. It's so lame.
