Removal of Stock Muffler with PICS - Page 2

I wanted to bump this one up. I am going to install my SPT exhaust myself and I was wondering if I needed to get new hangers or not? Can anyone help?

When you removed your cat back did you find a silencer? and if you did is it removable?

A friend of mine installed his SPT cbe and used the stock hangers. He had no problem with clearance.

There is no silencer, just the muffler. There is a resonator in the midpipe.

the fuel tank is right above the open tailpipe when you remove the muffler. there is a minor risk of the heat heating the fuel tank. Also, the exhaust will deposit itself all over the underside of the car if left open right there.

but removal of the muffler is pretty much identical on all 02-07 Imprezas

i wouldn't do this with an aftermarket downpipe.. flames = bad
