talked to a traffic comissioner yesterday and she told me the following:

If you get cited for 27150/27156/17159 because there are no smog refs right now, you have a few options (at least in santa barbara):

1. Go to a certified smog testing station(those gas/service stations) and bring proof you passed to the court.
2. Keep extending the citation until dmv smog refs are back.
3. Find a cool officer who will sign it off even though they technically arent supposed to, and try to slip it by the court.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick tip: Go to the ARB (air resource board) and see if your exhaust is on the list of compliant exhausts. Keep it in your vehicle so when you get pulled over you have at least some proof.

For 27151 (over 95 db), if you get cited bring it to numerous stations. Odds are there will be one cop whos opinion will be it is not too loud.

be careful at the state refferees, my friend got a ticket for his exhaust being to loud and while he was getting it tested, a white integra came in to get his tested, and they opened his hood and asked him for his keyes. Once they took his keyes they told him that his car was now being impounded for illegal modifications ( he had a B20 motor in it). So just a fore warning, i do not know how strict they are about stuff like that, but be careful.
