I would like to have the inside diameter of the throttle body enlarged all the way through with a larger throttle plate installed. I would have to take it to a machine shop to do it precisely. Then I would port match at the intake manifold. I'm sure that would definitly improve throttle response. Since I'm in Socal, I can take it to JG Engineering or RC Engineering which both companies do this for honda tb in large quanities. I'd rather do this on a spare tb.

snorky,
what were your impressions of the improvement from the y-pipe porting vs the throttle body porting? If the throttle body didn't help as much, then I might only do the Y pipe and not risk having to buy a new TB.

when i talked to deadbolt, they said they only saw appreciable gains were with the y pipe. I kept looking at the tb and it was screaming port me so i did. like has already been stated, stay away from the throttle plate.

at ~$475 a pop to replace, porting the throttle body is not for the faint of heart. However, it's really hard to take too much off as it does take a while to remove material. if you follow the steps i used, you should have no problems.

great thanks! I'll probably do the Y-pipe down the road when I get a new TMIC. depending on how that goes, I might try the TB anyways. Thanks for the awesome writeup!
