if you can't buy it seperately from subaru, you might be able to get one from someone who is now running a FMIC

yeah you can more than likely order it from subaru. otherwise like otter said you could buy it off another member. or find a wrecked sti.

i guess i should have updated this thread because since then i ported mine to 1 inch.

post the part number and price here if there is one. for other people with the two piece that might want to change over because the one piece is undoubtedly smoother flowing.

Hey BTW, I did this mod a couple of days ago... Best Free Mod Ever! I find it hard to believe though after feeling the throttle body, that there would be no benefit from porting it as well.

Did you feel any improvement after going with a deeper porting?

BTW, I polished mine to a nice high shine as well, simply b/c I had a polishing head that came with my Dremel grinding kit, and I wanted to try it out. I also used the polishing wheel to polish as deeply as I could down the pipe from all 3 openings. Not sure polishing made any difference, but it'll be pretty if anyone ever looks in there .

I cant believe that. Why is mine a 2 piece then. That really makes me wonder if they changed it before 05 on the later production 2004s. Because my sti was made in 2003 when the 04s first came out. Maybe that's why? Either way, pisses me off. I need to get the one piece, so if anyone out there has gone to a fmic, which I plan on doing eventually, and doesn't need their 1 piece y pipe anymore I will buy it from you.

I bet they changed it mid-model. They did that with the motor mounts on the 06 too (they chnged from crappy ones to good ones in Jan. production date).

as far as the FMIC guys, you should post something up in the Want To Buy forum... Good luck!

I didn't feel any difference with porting deeper. I didnt' expect to, it was more of a piece of mind thing.

I'm sure polishing it will help. It def couldnt hurt. I have gotten a polishing wheel since i did this mod too. Maybe i will polish mine too. Polishing is a pita though.

When i port my tb this weekend, i'm going to take a look at the butterfly/ throttle plate. maybe i'll knife edge that!

I hope to be doing this mod. Great idea BTW. I am doing this in my machine shop with a stationary router. Do you have to go as far as an inch? Is the edge just have a thin lip not like a knife edge? Can't wait for your pics for doing the throttle body Please post pics for throttle body removal and all that stuff.

Thanks. I originally did 3/4". I figured 3/4" was a good enough. 1" didnt' really make any sort of noticable difference.

The edge of the pipe is a thin lip, not a knife edge. I didn't want to risk cutting through the silicone elbow. also having a little more material on the edge would provide some rigidity and be less easy to dent or crack.

I will post pics and instructions of the TB port (and possible knife edging or the throttle plate) this weekend or shortly after.
