Like I said in my OP, Deadbolt told me they hadn't seen any benefits to porting the TB so i didn't do it. I'm not hating on Delaware Subaru, more power to him, especially if he saw benefits. If so i would consider it. I'm jsut going off what Deadbolt told me.

I picked 3/4 because it wasn't so deep that i couldn't fit/control my dremel in the pipe. I'm sure if you can go deeper it would be even better because the transition would be smoother. I'm not sure if it would be an appreciable amount though.

Thanks AWDrift007!!

I am thinking of sending the Y pipe to a machine shop to get it ported and polished as soon as i reach my country (maybe after 2-4 weeks time from now).. any pro n cons of having it done in a machine shop? as i dont have any dremel tools.. i will ask to port it deeper at the machine shop..

btw, how thin is too thin (if i can make it deeper, how thin the pipe 'wall' could be?)

cheers!

Thanks for the info. I had read about them doing the TB coolant bypass on S2000's but frankly had no clue that our car had a coolent line running to the TB.

I'm sure a machine shop will be able to do a better job than i did. It was easy for me so i'm sure it will be laugably easy for them. They might even have some tricks to make it even better. The only con I can think of is you have to pay for it.

Too thin, imo, is a knife-like edge. The reason i didn't do this is because it could cut into the rubber elbow and/or it could crack/chip/dent easily. Mine comes to a sharp edge but its not sharp enough to cut anything and it still has some ridgidity to it.

I know u havent done this yet, but is there specific way people can do this? i.e. do we have to dismantle the turbo before porting it up? what about the metal dust? i might do this together with the Y pipe.. (if I also have the motivation to pull the turbo myself)..

cheers!

btw.. i will also do my homework searching for this info in other forums..

Finally got a chance to doing this, and let me say i wish i did it sooner. followed your instructions with my dremel, but i went it about an inch instead. Car is definitley more responsive, and is much stonger in the upper rpm range. going to port 3 of my buddies as well to see if they get the same results.

the porting of the intercooler pipe sounds awesome and im definately going to do it to mine. great job by the way, it looks good, and im going to use that as my guide, but im gonna try to go even deeper. Probably 1 inch. Also, my 04 sti has a coupling in the cast y pipe, so its technically a 2 piece, but yours is a 1 piece. WTF! why doesnt mine have that??!!?!? I guess they changed that for 05. Pisses me off though, I wonder if there's even any benefits to porting mine because of that. Flow velocity would have to be inferior to the 1 piece. I wonder what the part number from subaru is for the 1 piece pipe, if you can even buy it separately from the intercooler.
