Exclamation How to - Plug and Play with the AccessPORT

Here's some easy How to steps for installing/ Plug and Play the AccessPORT, if you're having any troubles.

Tools:
AccessPORT

First, take your car where it is safe to leave the doors unlocked, such as your garage.

Move your seat all the way back so you have enough room to bend a bit.

Step 1:

Put your key in the ignition and leave it in the "Off" position. Don't turn it, just plug and leave it there.

Step 2:

Under your dash are two green Test Mode Connector. Plug the two Test Mode Connectors together.

Step 3:

Turn your ignition key to the "On" position but do not fully start the engine.
Check to see if your "Check Engine" light is blinking on your dash. You may also hear your radiator fans cycling on and off periodicly. Don't worry it's all in the process.

Step 4:

Plug in the DiagPORT cable that came with your AccessPORT. It's black with red at the tip. Insert the DiagPORT, with the logo AcessPORT facing you, in the diagnosis port connector. The diagnosis port connector is right under your steering wheel and dash.

Step 5:

Now your AccessPORT should turn on and it should state:

AcessPORT- 2.5STi
COBB TUNING
( Year )
Initializing V1.0

Select what you want to do with your AccessPORT. If you want select a base map, select #1.

It will state, " Please choose a new map to flash to ECU
Press OK/Cancel." Press the big button, "Ok". Than there will be a list of maps that you can choose to flash your ECU with.

Your AccessPORT will tell you to, " Turn the car fully off and back on. Then press OK." Turn your ignition key fully off as the picture above and fully on as above as well. The AcessPORT will display a screen that says. " Initializing ECU ......" Once it has completed it's initialization process, there will be a % sign. Wait till it reaches 100% and than the AcessPORT will say, " Reflash Complete. You must turn the car off before starting.- Press OK." Do as followed and than you've just flashed your car using the AcessPORT!

*IMPORTANT* Step 8:

Before driving, disconnect the green Test Mode Connectors!

Drive and feel your new obtained power! Let the ECU learn for a few minutes and than floor as wished.

Awesome writeup and pictures!

Quick question: Do I need to update the AP itself from the Cobb website to make sure I have the latest software?

IIRC, Yes, when they have new map versions than you must update it through the Cobb website found at http://cobbtuning.com/sti/accessport/index.html.

great write-up!!! I just wanted to add that you only have to connect the green connectors if you are loading a new "base map". You dont need to use those if you are switching real-time maps or clearing CEL codes....

Just wanted to add, that for some people, if your car isn't entering test mode with the two connectors connected under the dash, then you should look to see if a second set of connectors on the passenger side are disconnected(behind the kick panel...would be to the right of your feet near the floor). In some cars these are disconnected and have to be connected in order to get the connectors under the dash to work (this happened to me). Once these are connected, just leave them that way, and only connect/disconnect the ones under the dash.

Nice write-up. I'm sure the effort to take the pictures will be appreciated by many members who are on the fence about this product.
