wow this is a great thread that has answered a lot of my questions. I have one too about the AP. I know people buy used ones all the time but how do you know if your AP has been properly unmarried? Will you not get that screen on the AP display like those shown on post#1 on this thread? Thanks for any help. I'm a noob too btw.

That was rather disappointing to hear, as it is a major reason to install a catted downpipe.
Thanks.
Even heavy-duty cats cannot compensate for an engine that's running out of tune. A cat has a narrow operating range; and overly rich or overly lean mixtures will cause either too much CO and HCs, or too much NOx (respectively) for the catalyst to deal with. On a different note, really off ignition timing, atmospheric BOVs, or running plugs that are too cold, can all damage the cat.

Bottom line: nobody can guarantee a cat, unless you can guarantee it was tuned to manufacturer's specs. With a tuner part like they just can't do it.

Supermarkus is totally right.

Re federal law: You cannot ever remove functioning emission control equipment, except to test it. You cannot replace non-functioning emission control equipment with aftermarket parts within the first 2 years -- it must be OE. Furthermore, the OE stuff is warrantied for 8 years or 80,000 miles on all cars model year 1995 and newer.

Going back to the AP and the Green connectors...
For an 07 STi, will I be looking for them at the steering column or on the Pass. side kick panel or both?
Best access to the conenctors at the steering column? (I'd assume from below, w/o removing the panel.)
Which should be connected?
Which should be disco'd after reflash?

Anything else I should know before I do this later today? Thanks in advance!

There is a set of green connectors under the dashboard AND behind the plastic on the passenger side. If you plug in the green connectors under the dash and the car does not go into debug mode then you need to check the ones on the passenger side. Usually the dealer will just unplug the ones under the dash for simplicity sake, but sometimes they go the extra mile and unplug the ones on the passenger side.

The plastic I'm talking about is the part that covers the passenger side door sill. It just pops off.

Done, that was easy. Took a while to upload, but it's flashed and running sweet!

Thanks for the help!
