Exclamation How to - Install the AUX Board!

Ok, just lift from the end of the shift trim up, there is no need to remove completely.

You will see two screws that hold the center HVAC in place at the bottom, remove them and place them in one of the cup holders so as not to loose them.

With the flat head pry the top out gently in order to remove the HVAC.

Then you will be left with the radio, which is being held by 6 screws in total. 3 left 3 right. Remove the screws from the bottom first then move up. Place them in the cup holder with the other two. Don't worry if they mix, they are the same size.

Unplug the wires from the back of the radio, antenna and speaker + power plug. There is also a ground on the right side of the radio.

Take the radio inside, and remove the 4 screws that hold the mounting brackets in place. Be VERY carefull not to strip them, they are tight.

Remove the front face of the radio by lifting the tabs at the top/bottom and the sides.

Here is what you have left.

Then you have to remove the heat sink, the back plate of the radio. There are 8 screws in total.

Then you have to remove the CD changer by removing the 2 small front screws. Once you have taken them out life the chaner from the back carefully. Be carefull no to brake the cable either. Once you have it out, just unplug the flat cable gently, DO NOT BEND THIS CABLE AT ALL!

Then get the AUX Board and make sure that the input faces the passanger side of the radio. So if you have the CD changer upside down (cable facing up) and the CD slot facing you it will be the left for the passanger side. Place the board with the input facing the passanger side before you connect the flat cable. Once you have it placed connect the CD changer cable to the AUX Board.

Have the mini plug cable connected to the aux input, make sure its all the way in too. Then place everything back together.
One thing I did not like is that the cable they suply with the AUX board is a bit to short, so you cannot place the board anywhere you would like too. If the flat cable was about an inch longer then you can stick the board to the front plate with the 3M two sided tape.

When puting the heat sink, make sure you use the long mm screws for here.

I also routed the cable to the back and bent the lip a bit in order to come out. Finish is perfect and does not affect anything.

Go back and install the radio, and route your cable the way you want to. Insert the given Blank CD and enjoy your MP3, Satellite radio....etc

Now things I did wrong.
- You need to purchase the filter or you will be hearing the whinning noise of the alternator, turbo and the engine itself

Pros
Very nice, easy to do, and gives you the opportunity to have your AUX in the car FINALLY!!

Cons
Volume drops a bit, maybe a volume multipliers would not be a bad idea.
Flat cable supplied is a hair short for placing the board on the front plate.

It'd be cool to have a plug mounted flush on some surface.

No need to unscrew the shifter trim or the shift knob. Unbutton the leather shifter boot and at the back of the shifter console part grab and pull up right where the hand is in the 1st photo. That will allow you to remove that part of the dash and get to the 2 screws holding the bottom of the HVAC console down.

Sorry for the typo, i fixed it.

Anyways pull up from the end of the shifter trim, and that removes the ashtray etc out. There is no need to take that part of the HVAC out completely, once you do that bellow left and right of the air control knobs you should see both screws that you are asking about.

Hope this helps, any questions let me know.

Good warning to not strip the bolts holding on the side plate things w/the mounting tabs. I stripped two on each side today and now have to drill them out and find the correct size screw to replace them. So a word to the wise - be EXTREMELY careful when working with these screws.

Intalled mine the other day after my first failed attempt.

Works better than I ever expected. Very clear sound, etc. I HIGHLY recommend this product for anyone with the OEM headunit.

This product is amazing. I tried the cheap way out and got an FM transmitter on eBay for $20 and it was terrible. Fed up with the horrible clarity, I bought one of these Aux boards and it is amazing! The sound is so clear and so much better than the FM transmitter.
This is a great product if you don't want to spend hundreds on a new head unit.
Be careful not to scratch your console with the radio like I did!!

Here are some pictures of my setup.
I ran the wire a different route at the end, so it is not as exposed.
I don't have a picture of it, but I taped the wire to the right side of the inside of the shifting area so it doesn't get caught up in the shift lever.
Check it:

Now look how I use the wire for the iPod to hold down my radar detector wire. It constantly got in my way when I just let it dangle by my leg.

Then I squished the wire in with my glove box!

^I just routed my wire behind the dash into the glove box. Then when it's in use i take some of the slack out of the glove, plug in the ipod, and place it in the ashtray (perfect fit). Then I can easily hide it so it won't be eye candy for thieves...

I think next time I have my center console out, though, I'm gonna drill a hole in the bottom of the center console compartment and put the wire through there....ultimate stealth
