Exclamation Installing Chargespeed CF Brake Ducts

I bought some cf brake ducts which require that the bumper beam be cut in order to fit them. I must remove the front bumper on my 04 STi.

Anybody done this who can give me some helpful tips, suggestions, or instructions?

Thanks in advance.

might be better for you to just buy the JDM bumper beam.

Anyone here with a productive response???

yea i would like to know fitment and see pics!

ok, since you do have these pieces can you take a pic from the side of the duct? i need a side profile to see how it looks and if it would interfere with the perrin fmic piping on my passengers side.

Actually Gruppe-S says they require the JDM beam or modification of the USDM (I was looking into getting them but made me think twice after reading that part )

JDM beam is needed. With or without the light assembly.

Default Beam's gotta go...

or at least part of it. I pulled the stock covers off and did a trial fit of the new ducts and it is quite obvious that about 6 inches of the stock bumper beam needs surgery, or a full replacement with the JDM piece takes place.

I've got no problem with cutting the stock one - it can't compromise the strength and crash resistance any more than the JDM beam would. But I have to access the beam in order to do anything.

Guess I'll have to find one of the Impreza/STi service manuals somewhere for instructions, as no one seems to be able to shed any light on how to do it correctly.

I'm hoping to get this install done before the big Cobb meet here in SLC this weekend. My son and I spent last Saturday installing a Cobb catted turboback - love the new sound and power. Need to reflash with my AP now to attain Stage 2 performance, then plan some suspension upgrades on my 43k miles '04 PSM daily driver.

Will post pix once ducts are installed.

the bumper is SUPER easy to take off. nothing but pop tabs on the top (take grill off),wheel wells and under tray. took me 10 minutes to figure it out the first time i did it,and it was the first time i ever took a bumper off
