I just took the opportunity to rotate the tires. Having the tires out of the way made the install much easier/cleaner...

Just installed my Rally Armor mudflaps. Great How-To vid! Definitely made the install easier.

Unfortunately, I still ran into a few problems. Maybe someone could give me a little advice...

1) I know the video warned me about this, but I ended up tearing the front driver side fender liner a little bit. I didn't pull it out enough above the top stopper and now there's a horizontal tear about 3/4". Is this going to end up being a problem? Do I need to replace the fender liner?

2) I can't get the bottom screw in completely for the front passenger side flap. It almost seems like the screw is too short and the thread won't grab. This screw seems like it grabs for a little bit, but never really tightens and will pop out if I gently swivel the mud flap. I completely removed and reseated all the clips several times with no luck. The hole in the clip is lined up correctly and the driver side one grabbed just fine. I'm currently just running without a screw there, will that hold the mud flap well enough?

3) The long screws no longer tighten for the last 1/4" of the screw, they just spin. Did I do something wrong or is this how they're supposed to be?

4) For the remaining screws, how tight is too tight? I tightened them just enough so that the mud flaps do not swivel with light/moderate force.

Thanks for any input!

I emailed the same questions to Rally Armor and their reply is below:

2) Chances are you are not lining it up. Yes it will hold but it is recommended that you use all mounting points. Sometimes folks lose positioning the mounting point when replacing the side skirtback. Line it up with a small pick or a tin screwdriver and look at the hole (preferable with a flashlight) is it lined up? Then bolt.

3) Is this for the rear? There is a chance you may have overtorqued the screw. IF this is the case remove and check to see if it tightens off the car, is it slipping? If so you have overtorqued. You can either get a slightly thicker screw, or we can send you some more additional clips if you need (simply pay the shipping). If you purchase a screw, make sure it is stainless as not to rust!

4) Correct more towards “moderate” is correct
Looks like I may need some new hardware for the long screws, and I will try to correctly remount all 4 flaps.

hum..... i just installed them today and had no problems. I found that for the too tight issue, i just tightened them until they were firm and gave it an extra 1/8-1/4 turn. Also, the long bolt seemed to not be going in anymore, but i kept turning it for a long time and i pressed against it firmly and it went all the way in. hope u resolve ur issues.

Thanks for the info. I tried that today with the long screws and it worked!

Regarding the bottom screw on the front mud flaps, I found 1.5" stainless steel screws and they fit perfectly in the bottom hole. Seemed like the 1" ones were just a little short and didn't "bite" enough of the clip.

just finished install, the bottom screw front side wouldn't catch it seemed to short but..... I removed skirt and the clip moved so i couldn't get the screw in, I found if you screw the inside (long) screw then the bottom screw then install clips for skirt it didn't slide so if you are having trouble try that.

I tried that too, as well as many other combinations to get the bottom screw in. In the end, I had to settle with getting a longer screw for that hole. But it's all good now!

I just did this install myself last weekend. I used HSPN's video as a guide as it was a bit clearer than the instructions on RallyArmor's website. I gotta say, I love these mudflaps.. Idk how I went this long without them!

I'm going to do my best to contain myself and not melt the swear filter. I just got mine today and I set out to install them. I've watched this video numerous times and knew exactly what needed to be done. Here's how it went. Got all the clips out and stuck the black fastener into the front fender well for the long screw to go into, got everything lined up and started inserting the screws.

I began by tightening the long screw first and noticed the screw wasn't going anywhere. The black piece just sits there and spins and no matter what I did the screw WOULD NOT go in and expand it. I decided to skip that and get the other three screws in and lo and behold the bottom screw is too short. It would not catch no matter how hard I pushed, pulled, or realigned the sideskirt. I tried inserting one of the other long screws and it went in no problem. I spent 2 hours screaming and cursing in my driveway trying to install these things. I finally said **** it and gave up.

Anyone else have any of these problems? I mean this is ridiculous.

i didnt have any of these problems at all. it was a very simple install for me. as far as the long screw goes, i'm not sure why its not catching but maybe if u put more pressure on it it'll catch? but i have heard of the bottom screw being too short. u can probably go to like ace hardware or something and buy a longer one. good luck!

I went through the EXACT same problems. For the long screw you just need to use more pressure as your screwing it in. For the bottom screw on the front flaps, I ended up going to my local hardware store and picking up a set of 1.5" stainless steel screw with a similar thread pattern. Make sure it's stainless steel.

Also, since I had played with the front clips so much they became really loose. In order to keep them in place as I put the fender liner back, I used a little double sided tape in the groove of the clips.

Good luck.
