Exclamation Change your cabin air filter HOW TO

I know there was a thread about how dirty the filter gets for the cabin air...so I decided to change mine, seeing winter is gone finally. Took pics while I did it...it's only about a 10 minute job look...

THE FILTER IS BEHIND THE GLOVEBOX. THERE IS 9 SCREWS THAT HOLD IT IN AND 1 CLIP. THE CLIP IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE GLOVE BOX ON THE SIDE, HERE IS A PIC OF WHERE THE SCREWS ARE:

THE 2 SCREWS UNDER THE DASH:

TAKE THE GLOVEBOX OFF, IT WILL LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

THIS HARNESS GETS IN THE WAY, SO UNPLUG IT:

THIS IS WHERE THE FILTER IS:

POP THE COVER OFF:

AND TAKE THE FILTER OUT, MIGHT LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS...

WHICH YOU WILL REPLACE WITH THE NICE NEW SHINY ONE

PUT THE COVER BACK ON THE FILTER COVER, PLUG THE HARNESS BACK IN THEN START SCREWING THE GLOVEBOX BACK UP

THATS IT!

good write up. Might want to put in there that there is also a plastic plug type clip on the side of the glovebox plastic. (the car door covers it when it's closed)

Thanks man... I need to go ahead and do this. I doubt the original owner of my car ever did it.

I recently did this, using a OEM $$$$$$$$ filter, but next time it's going to be a Home Depot special. I don't really see how cutting your own out of a similar home A/C filter is going to hurt.

I did note that, I just didn't include any pictures. I guess I should have posted a pic though

Definately smells cleaner. I've noticed that the damp smell went away when I changed the filter.

18.4cm x 21cm,
height:3cm

Most furnace filters are lower(thinner) but work OK.

Remove the metal wiremess on those furnace filter makes it much easier to bend/squeeze the new filter through into the box.
