Thanks for the write up. I followed the instruction and did mine yesterday. I do however had to use my common sense to figure out where to put the fuse box. anyway, thanks again

Has anyone experience reduced air flow to the radiator with these horns in the way? A guy in my local group has a GC8 and he ended up making brackets to mount them where they wouldn't interfere with air flow.

Thanks for the instructions, they work and look great! Man, every install I do takes so long because I want it perfect. I spent 4 hours doing this job, making sure the positioning was tight and the wire routed nice and clean.

Thanks again!

I wasn't feeling the look of them behind the grill, so I recently relocated mine to behind the fog light covers. They fit there perfectly - I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I'd post pics but there really isn't anything to see, that was the whole point. All you need extra from a regular install is one nut/bolt per horn to bolt it down - there is a hole inside the fog light area that the metal piece already attached to the horns reaches perfectly (on an '04 anyway). You will have to loosen or remove some of the undercarriage plastic bits to get to the back side of the nut/bolt to tighten it, but it was like 4 plastic pop rivets.

I think you were wise to relocate them behind the fog covers...it's not like they're not loud enough or anything...

Installed kit tonight on 06. Horns mounted up fine behind side front grills using radiator support bolts. Need to remove plastic that screws/connects to these for clearance. Bought from lowes (1) spool of 14 g wire (2) bag 14 gauge female disconnects (3) bag 14 gauge male connects (4) bag 14 gauge ring connectors (5) roll electric tape. Mounted relay using bolt beside fuse box cover. Huge difference when horns powered from just stock wire vs. from 12v (craaazy loud) .

Default Thanks! Installed in my 06

My fiance and I installed these last weekend. We did not use the fuse, we went straight off the battery....But the parts list was a big help

Mounted behind the two front grills... had to cut a little bit of the plastic out of the grill for the fit

Tight and Right... Loomed up to look factory straight off the battery

END RESULT

Me and the husband to be!

Nice write up. Just to add, you need (2) 1/4-3/4 inch bolts and (2) 1/4 inch nuts (I used nylon lock nuts).

I installed mine on my 06 and didn't have to cut/remove anything using the empty holes on the upper radiator support beam.

You dont need to split it, just tap into the same wire when your by the grill area.
So did u just run one wire to a horn, then strip it a bit and attach another wire, like a "T" ? i just got these from my gf and im not a good electrical guy.

question. on the hella horns it doesnt say which prong is pos and which is neg. is 30 the positive just like the prong from relay to battery? or is it the one marked 90? the wiring diagram that came with it shows the pos. wire goes up if the mounting tab is verticle as well. is that right? im almost done and hope i dont fry it if its backwards.

ok i think i put the plugs on backwards, or Im praying i did. test honks sound like its just the one stock horn left (other one came out since we use the positive from the stock one right??) so its very very faint. ill swap the plugs around tommorow, hopefully thats all thats wrong i cant imagine what else could be. this is why i hate electrical crap on cars.

ok how did u guy splice the wire that came from the relay that goes to the pos. plugs on the horns? i used a twist on wire connector, but is there a better way? i took one stock horn out since i took the plug from it and ran it to the relay (as per instructions) but what about the other horn and its wire? just leave them?

Great writeup, I was planning on buying the new horns after a buddy of mine told me that my horns sounded wimpy. The also look good behind the grill when its all together.
