good question. i'm not sure. usually with the import scene, it's a lot about style etc. these horns really wouldn't be the most styish choice for horns, so maybe that's why they haven't took off. personally speaking as a subie owner, i like performance bits more. the stock horns kinda suck, so i wanted something rfl. it's also probably because of word of mouth. one person tries them and then all of a sudden so does everyone else. it's a good thing though because the horns are awesome!

I actaully installed Freeway Blasters on my other cars. They're rated at 132 db. Unfortunately, because of the narrow space, they don't fit on the Impreza. The supertones do and they look neat through the grille also. Perhaps, I'll install them one day .

I finally got mine installed today.

The only thing I didn't want to do is block airflow to the radiator so i mounted mine lower similar to this.

The radiator is already small enough and the last thing I wanted to do is block any air. This method is pretty easy since there's some holes that already exist in the center support you may use and no angle brackets are needed. You can also pivot them higher if you wanted.

What do they actually sound like? I watched that video and it sounded kind of weird to me. I would be very interested in putting these in as i think they are way cool looking as well. Are there other audio files of the horns?

Couple video's:

They're not as deep as I would like but defintely louder than stock. I think I may keep looking for something deep and loud.

Also, do they restrict airflow at all?

I would just like to say thanks for the write up on this install. It really helped a lot. I just did my set up yesterday and it looks great. I took a bit longer due to the fact that I got a little creative with hiding the wires.

Thank you, Essteaeyee & any everyone else, for this awesome write . I am always afraid of playing with wiring. I keep thinking I am going to F it up . So I was very hesitant about this mod. But I followed these instructions step by step. Very easy install . It sounds great and the look of the horns behind the grill it’s priceless.

Big up to ESsTeAEyEe for writing the thread... i just installed it on my 06 this past weekend, and made my life much easier!

Only problem now is that I am not sure if my front end looks too busy, i have the horns, the sti emblem and the 2 stickers up front... I have ab OBP... any thoughts? (not to hijack)

Yeah thanks Essteaeyee your write up made everything easy much respect goes out to you. It took me about 2 hrs total to get everything done w/ the heat shrink and all the other small details. I did make the mistake of testing the horns while in the garage. I had my door open when I hit the horn and I think I came out of my seat a few inches and my ears rang for a few minutes but they are LOUD. I also scared the crap out of some kids when I was at grocery store the looks on their faces after I hit the horn was priceless.
