I had the same problem the other day when trying to de-badge the front STI logo. Still don't know how to get them out. I just got my Hella's today so will be attempting to do it again tonight on my '06. If anyone knows how to get the grills out on an '06 would be great info to have before I get home

Very nice and clean!
how long did the install take and what mounting points did you use? Did you follow insanes06 directions if so, did they help?

Iam still busy trying to finish my work. I should have some time tommorrow to do mine!

Followed this set of instructions, but I went for the stealth look

(yeah yeah...ok, so it's not an STI)

Install only took about 20 minutes or so. I did reference the directions for pulling off the grills. Used the bolts that hold the radiator (next to the headlights) One thing that is not mentioned here is the side grills have a black plastic piece in back that must be removed or they will not fit back on over the horns as I have them shown.

Lazy man install...using stock relay removed stock horns. I can't assume that all that extra wiring for the hella relay would make them louder...They are loud enough now. Anyone try both relays and have concrete evidence?

I dunno who came up with the theory of them being louder. The relay is designed to run a constant 12v supply tot he lamps rather than running power through the factory relay wich is not rated for anywhere near the power consumption of the supertones....

So basically skip the relay if you want to risk electircal problems.

It may not cause problems, but you are playing with fire.

BTW I bought the HL85315 since I do not want people prying my hood open if my horns go off repeatedly with the alarm... so the "indian" ones are atually louder than stock but quiet enough. And I saved $15, works for me.

I just got my horns today... this seems to be more confusing to me than anything...

Can someon shed light on how I run just wire from the battery to the horns...

I'm not that great with electrical stuff, so I need LOTS of pictures and I can follow it like from the first page... but other than that I am getting confused on how to install these....

Thanks,
-Nigel

Just re-installed these. I had originally skipped the relay and just ran them off the car's horn wiring. They didn't sound any louder than stock horns like that, so then I wired them up as per the included instructions using the included relay straight to the battery. They are louder now -- it did take me a while though, probably 30 minutes spent making the wires and connectors, but once that was done it took like 15 min to actually intall them on the car. I removed both stock horns, gives a bit of a cleaner look.

if using the relay, you just run the wire from the battery to the #30 connector on the relay. the horns themselves run into the relay.

w00t w00t!

My friends and I installed these today along with my TBE... install was VERY straight forward after my friend explained to me the whole relay thing...

Good DIY!

The hellas behind the grill look bad ass! And they are somewhat louder than stock... My friends said they are LOUD.. but to me it's not too bad...lol

I did scare the bjesus out of some deer that were on the side of the hill..hahah

Pardon my ignorance.....but I've been into the whole import tuning scene for about 7 years now, and I've never seen these Supertones until I bought my STi and started visiting these boards.

What is it about this car in particular that makes these such a hot item?
