I would have to assume black, I just grounded mine to the body using one of the screws that was up there.

Been discussed over and over, read the whole thread. no proof either way.

^^^ yeah, my old V1 would do that in my WRX, I called it my "turbo detector" - something about a dip in the power voltage, give Escort a call.

I've been running this setup for over a year now and love it. I don't believe the dot's effect the radar at all. If anything, it detects better now that it is up there. The only thing that I know that will effect radar is if you have a heated windshield.

For any 07's out there. the Yellow with Red stripe is the power wire you want, and you can just use one of the screws you took out for a grounding point.

re: vampire taps.

avoid them. they clip some of the wires as they slice through the insulation. they introduce a potential failure point where vibration and moisture can enter.

my main recommendation is to solder, and seal with liquid electrical tape followed by shrink wrap.

if not that then PosiTaps are the best way to go. Instead of slicing through strands of wire like the vampire taps do, this pokes through and makes a weather resistant tap without the associated problems. Posi-Lock(TM) - The Best Connectors You'll Ever Use!

And, yes, the V1 is sensitive to voltage dips/spikes. Had it wired to my horn circuit on the bike. Every time I blipped the horn, the V1 would trigger. I moved the connection.

I just finished a hardwired V1 installation in my '08 STi. I figure it might be usefull to link to it here:

Great info on here for the hardwire. I have an escort and after several attempts to mount various places I finally mounted to headliner just to the left of the mirror mount. I just used the windshield mount with the suction cup's removed and a couple of small bolts and washers from Home Depot to bolt the mount to the headliner. very clean look and not that visible from outside. I tested behind the dots vs not in several places and couldn't find any difference. My main goal was maximum range to the front and maximum concealment from the sun and thieves. Working perfectly so far.

Has anyone used the invisicord product? I used it on my Corvette and it says it is compatible with the 2004+ Impreza: Invisicord - Installation

No splicing involved. You just push the two pins in the positive and negative leads. Anyone tried it?
