Only if the tint is metallic. Metallic tint will affect any radar detector to certain degree. How significant that effect is, is debatable.

Ok that's good to know. I just got my tints on this past Wednesday (5% in the backs and 35% on the front doors), and was worried about that. Just got done hardwiring my V1... I clocked myself at 11 minutes on the dot! I mounted mine just to the left of the rear view mirror... I have tried a few mounting positions, and when I drive by the speedtrap on I88 on my way to work everyday, it seems to pick it up sooner at this location!

Yea, I went with the ceramic tint so I would just make sure there is no interference.

For those who dont have a powered rear view mirror, which wire did you tap for power?

^^^ as I recall, the harness should be there anyway, even if you don't have the mirror, and you can get power from that...

Yes I do have 2 harnesses. One is for the lights, and the other is the harness I believe your talking about. I just dont know which wire is the power wire..

The harness I have doesn't have any blue or green wires. It has a black wire, a yellow wire with a strip of red, and a brown wire with a strip of white.

EDIT: I took the picture from the original poster, these are the two harnesses I have...

I used the "add a fuse" thing . I didn't have to splice anything, just come right off of the fuse box then go up the A pillar.

^ I looked at mine, the blue wire mates up to the yellow w/red stripe, so that would be the one.

Thanks for the quick response. Would you happen to know which wire is the ground?

Now does our built in sun dots by the mirror effect the detection at all? Like is the lenses able to beam through that to be accurate or does it throw it off a lil?

I would have to assume black, I just grounded mine to the body using one of the screws that was up there.
