That may not be true. I was driving this weekend on the way to go camping. We were in my GF's Forester about 20 miles out of town on a nice road. I had never seen any LE this far out (it was Thursday AM). I am new to the V1 so I react quickly at any alert. If I feel I'm too tired to react, I don't drive fast. Well, there we are going about 75mph in a 55mph area (unless you are on the interstate, 55 is max anywhere in Oregon, no matter how nice the road, total and complete BS but don't get me started). All of the sudden the V1 wails, and it's laser. I had just come around a corner into a long straight. First thing I do is stomp the brake and bring the car to 58mph or so in a few seconds. A few seconds later "blam", the V1 goes nuts indicating laser again (total ET now is 3-5 sec max). I still have not located the LEO, but I do a few seconds later. It's a Saleen Mustang hidden in the bushes off to the side, and the LEO is standing on the shoulder out of the car. When we pass him he is almost back to his car looking for a second reading on the laser. He looks up at us with a dumbfounded look, it was a clasic "WTF" look as we pass. I get a few hundred yards down the road and "blam" we get hit again with the laser, this time from behind. This impressed me because the back of the car was stacked to the roof with camping gear, and I couldn't seen behind in the RVM. I think he was looking for two readings showing high speed, I know you don't have to show this with laser, but it may be department policy, who knows. Also, the fact I was in a Forester had to have helped. But there is not doubt I was speeding. Scared the crap out of me, but I'm sure the V1 paid for itself at that moment.

Well, I agree with you, it was just his logic that led him to ignore the laser. I still expect to get some scatter but it's not going to be constant and certainly won't be as far away.

The V1 as picked up some radar close to a mile away over a hill, I was amazed. Whenever I detect it early, I make sure to do about 10 under and stare at the speed trap, it makes me feel sooo good inside when I get direct eye contact because getting pulled over makes me feel so crappy - I have to even it out!

That is a really nice install. I hope to replicate it. TX highway patrol doesn't seem to care for my Evo or the STi.

Isin't that the best! I did that to a CHP last week on a trip. He shure looked butt hurt (direct eye contact of course) when I strolled past him locked on cruise a couple mph under.

Heres the complete mounting guide in action, with a little detour on the remote display in the clock display! I Love it!

For people with Homelink and Autodimming mirrors, the wiring harness attached at the map lights have three wires.
1 - Black
2 - Brown w/ yellow stripe
3 - Yellow w/ red stripe

You want to tap the Yellow w/ red stripe for power on your V1.

I just hardwired mine tonight. *happy*

is it better if i use twist connectors and splice the wires or can i just twist the radar ones on the mirror wires, tape it, and call it a day?

quick question. does hardwiring lose any of the sensitivity? does the phone cord (DIY hardwire) conduct the same power as a hardwire kit? just making sure the cops arent shooting much radar today and its not that my detector isnt doing its job.

Where do you purchase the bracket that people are tapping and using to mount the V1? I would rather stay away from suction cups and I if it was supposed to come with the V1 I lost it.
