Question if it reaches anyone in time:

Which color fog lights have the best light output for visibility for an STi. Is clear, blue, or yellow better. I will be buying them from KoI this week and my main concern is visibility and my second is looks. If anyone can provide night pics as a comparison it would be GREAT. Thanks

Ro

I did this too. I put about 5 layers of duct tape over the bumper around the cutting area so it wouldn't get scratched. Did my cutting, touched up the cuts with some paint and she was done. Only took about 30 minutes to cut both sides. You just have to take your time and be very careful. Beats taking the bumper off. An 8 inch blade is the trick.

I've had my JDMs and 'new bumper beam' for several months. I've read this thread and others several times.

My main concern is that I will not be able to take the bumper off easily... or without breaking some crap and causing more problems.

I still have the JDMs and beam in the back seat of the STi.... and the used trunk with a more sedate wing in my garage.

And.... now it's winter here in the Northeast. And, I won't have time to do this myowndamnswelf. Crap!! I think this is a pretty EZ (like a 6 on a scale of 1-10) DIY deal. I'm prolly a 7 or an 8, tho.

I still wanna do this, but may have to have the dealer or some aftermarket shop hook up the JDMs/beam. (sigh...)

damn that really sucks.
I was just about to put an order into japanparts.com
Looking at the pictures between 05-06 the bumper covers are completely different.
Any recommendations for 06 foglights?

Just got my JDM Fogs in my WRB. This thread was great in helping me install them. The pix in this thread:

Pics of JDM fogs on '05 Crystal Grey Metallic.
were also helpful, especially the before and after bumper beam modification.

Nice - I just went Stage II w/Cobb, and now I am looking for new "non fast" mods to compliment the car, and I think this would be great.

Would anyone recommend cutting the current bumper guard, or buying the replacement? I can't do my own installs, so I don't know if the cost of cutting the stock bumper beam would equal the price of the new bumper beam... so, any opinions on what route I should take to add these great looking fog lights in PSM color?

Thanks!

Steve

I was thinking about picking up another USDM bumperbeam and having it cut, whats the best way of getting it cut?

I just thought of something. Did anyone rewire the fogs so that stay on all the time when ever you have the switch on. Like when the highbeams are on the fogs will stay on and if you have just the parking lights on you can have the fogs on. I know on most USDM cars the fogs are supposed to go off when you have the highbeams on an then when you put the lowbeams on the come back on.

Or is it already wired this way. The added light at night would be helpful.
