Hmmm...I am deffiniatly going to do this mod, but I am thinking about adding a cap and a few other things in there so as to make the LEDs flash at about 10kHz (faster than the eye can see) which will make them a LOT brighter. I'll sketch up a quick circuit and try it out...may not be worth it.

Hmm. Wouldn't changing the duty cycle of the LED's make them dimmer? I guess it depends on how they're setup stock.

Yes it would make them dimmer if you kept the same current to the LEDs, however the beautiful part about flashing them (at a couple 100 Hz) is you can up the current and make them brighter. It's not hard using an LM555. Problem is an LM555 has a max current of 200 mA, so 200/6 = 33 which isn't that much more then the 20mA the LEDs I am using normally draws. I'll have to think about this more and figure something out.

Hmmm. I want mine to be blue. I wonder if I could just color the stock LED yellow. Then when it went through the green plastic, would it then be blue...
