I tend to agree, just letting you know what a tuner told me.

i've had to drain my catch cans after 2 days of hard solo 1 and a solo 2. i got about 1/4 cup out. but i usualy don't get anything with street driving or the weekend fun solo 2.

i think most of the oil was out the PCV.

Then generally underneath that, but on top of the crankcase, is another breather which I'm uncertain how it's routed. (see pic - the one on the top center of the block. The Y is obviously on top of the other.)

On your "modified" pic, it's obvious that one of those two mysterious sources are going to a catchcan, but I can't tell which one.

Thanks again.

One question for you guys... I have a perrin fmic, which takes the two systems and tee's them into each other.... in this senario, will one catch can work ok?

any advise, no real way to seperate then again, as the 3'' inlet hose is lacking space for the inlet...

any advice?

Thumbs up Thanks For Compare Photos

The compare photos with the colors really helped. The whole thread made great sense and is just what I needed. Those aluminum cans are really nice but they went up in price so I took a different tack. I used an inline fuel filter for the two side vents, and installed a catch can for the the PCV line. I have comfirmed elsewhere that you are correct that most of the oil comes thru it. I used your hose routing and examples for connections. For the can I used a air line dryer. I can watch the oil collect in it's clear polycarbonate bowl. Maybe I will upgrade to the aluminun ones someday. Installed today. Next I will rinse out my intercooler for the LAST time.

Karl,
I'm going to do the DIY install based on the link you sent using the Husky blow-by can probably around the first of March. I'll make sure to take lots of pics.

Funny thing is the owner of the link is a guy I used to AutoX with in Tucson, so small world.

yes. I was . that's why I made the comment. The avatars look ok here but on Nabisco they just seen out of place. Guess it's what you get used to first.

I'm curious if you could emulate crawford's return with your setup.
The way I see it, and i really do like your setup, you will most likely be under boost should you hit redline, and you will most likely be under boost should you have excessive crankcase pressures, and that's when you lose oil, the breathers would be doing all the work, and it's through the breather can that you will get most of your oil.
So looking at how Crawford has his catch can setup, he has a return hooked up back to one side of the breather, going into the valve cover, I'm assuming putting the TEE as low as possible for drainage, which would drain when the car is off.

What are your thoughts of plumbing it this way?

I purchased a Perrin unit, with what I guess is the new one with only 1 input. You guys mentioned before that the perrin allowed for a breather and pcv input (maybe only with a "t" that is not supplied in the kit). Anyways, after reading Wolfs great write up I am not sure which should be of priority with my one can.

I am tuned to ~19lbs, and I am now seriously considering installing this. I have had it for a few months not thinking I would need it til now.

91octane is bad enough, I don't need oil making it worse.

In your experience with your cars which should I plumb? What pukes the most oil? Perrin instructions say PCV.

PCV?
Breather?

Thanks.

Pcv or breather?
