| Advanced Contributor Level 4 Feedback Score: 1 reviews Car: 04 Subaru WRX STi Fav Mod: Fujitsubo!!!!!!!! | ![]() Tools needed: ![]() PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS: the PCV valve is NOT on the recommended subaru maintenance. I don't understand why people would want to change it. The way to know if a PCV valve is working correctly, you shake it and you should hear it "rattle". YouTube - pcvvalve Brief explanation of the PCV valve system: ![]() Start by removing these 3 10mm bolts ![]() Remove both 12mm bolts and watch out for the gasket behind the BPV! ![]() Remove the clamps using your flathead screwdriver. ![]() remove this 12mm bolt ![]() other side, another 12 mm bolt. ![]() Remove the coupling from the turbo using the flathead screwdriver. ![]() Push the intercooler back and it should pop out. ![]() The green circle is the PCV valve to be changed. ![]() Reinstall everything and you are done! | Advanced Contributor Level 1 Feedback Score: 0 reviews | Your PCV explanation graphic is not correct. The pressure control solenoid =! PCV. PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve and uses manifold vacuum pressure to draw out crankcase vapors. The pressure control solenoid is used as part of the evaporative emissions system for handling gas vapors from the gas tank. Otherwise, nice wright up. |

| Becoming A Contributor Feedback Score: 0 reviews Car: White 04 WRX STI Fav Mod: Cobb Accessport v2 | remember to by the entire three piece assembly, I failed to do so and realized that removal would cause breakage to the housing (three piece assembly) opted then to pull the whole assembly from engine block and cleaned with carb cleaner. This gave me a noticable improvement in the PCV valve and once again could hear it "click" when shaken back and forth, i agree this write and pics were very helpful. |
