IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2008 | Order From: IxizConcept Under the "CONTROL" tab. Price: $28 MSRP + Shipping, currently on sale for $24 + shipping when you add to cart. Installed on: 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi with Stock Clutch Install Time: ~1 minute. + 5-10 minutes to adjust to your specific needs. Install Difficulty: 1/10. Usage: A direct bolt on adjustable clutch stopper designed to reduce the extra travel of the clutch pedal. This will make driving in heavy traffic since you won't be pushing the clutch down with as much force. It also takes out most of the guess work to where the clutch engages. Note: This product won't make a difference for people who's clutch engages almost right away after lifting. It's designed for those of us who have a fair amount of dead zone before the engagement point. The stopper is adjustable from 6 MM to 21 MM. The kit includes everything below: Install Videos from IxizConcept: Demonstration: YouTube - ixizsclutch - clutch limiter Install of the Main Bolt: YouTube - ixizSclutch Impressions/Review: Very good craftsmanship and quality from stainless steel and anodized aluminum. Very easy to install and performs exactly as it claims. The 12 MM hex spacer was too much for my application, I ended up using 2 washers and the 6 MM spacer to be on the safe side. When I was using the 3 stoppers and the 6 MM hex spacer, the clutch engaged almost instantly when lifting. On the current adjustment, the car goes into all gears without any grinding and takes no more effort than stock. The rubber cap that slips on top of the hex spacer is optional, if you leave it off you'll get a nice solid feel as the pedal hits the stopper, with it on it feels a bit softer and "squishier." Up to personal preference, I guess. Even with only a 8 MM adjustment, the effect is immediate on the road. It's the last bit of push that takes the most effort as the spring is compressing more. With the stopper in place shifting smoothly requires less conscience effort and your left leg will be grateful after a long trip. I drove around it with for ~1.5 hours, no grinding or difficulty up- or down-shifting. Finding the engagement point is now much easier, as you pretty much set where it should be during the adjustment. I think this little mod makes the STi a much friendlier drive, especially for new owners who do not have experience driving a manual transmission. I'm sure many people will notice easier launches from standstill, smoother shifting, and far less leg fatigue vs. the stock setup. I'm truly amazed at how difference much such a simple thing like this made. You could make something similar for ~$5 out of Home Depot parts, but I wanted the reliability of a well designed product. I was planning on making one myself when I stumbled upon this product in a Saab92x forum. It's well worth the ~$30 that you spend and saves you the trial and error of trying to make one yourself. I offer a huge thanks to IxizConcepts for another quality product and highly recommend this to anyone who drives in heavy traffic with a huge dead zone in their clutch pedal. | Junior STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | I did absolutely the same thing to my 2 Citroen Xsaras, as their clutch pedal travel was way more then I wanted. And both cost me 0$ DIY But it's totally different to drive the car now!But on my STI the clutch pedal travel is spot on (perhaps it was modded before...) |
