having a turbo timer is not needed, but besides that, it has been covered 300 times. search around for info on it.

FWIW...I have 70K on my 04...most of that stage 2 and I havent had any problems with it. Subaru designed the engine to not need one.

boost still left in there? that guy doesn't sound like a pro at all.

turbo timers are used to cool the oil going through the turbine off after hard use. they keep the engine running to run the oil through the system to cool it so that the bearings in the turbo don't get coked up from the high heat of the turbo as the car sits there parked.

on a subaru, the turbos are water and oil cooled. this means that the turbocharger has coolant running through it to reduce the heat of the turbo. consult your manual and you'll see that unless you've been beating on the car hard, the coolant does an adequate enough job of coolign the turbo so that the oil inside of it doesn't get hot enough to coke up.

in summary, sell the turbo timer to a guy with a DSM and chalk it up to listening to the wrong person.

I figure either that "pro" is an imbecile, or he's trying to rip this guy off and play on his lack of knowledge.
