Cool Installing Headlight Armor Fog Light Protection kit (04-08's)

Although we do include a set of comprehensive instructions with each order a visual DIY should help out your install. All small (less than about 3.5" diameter) are done dry. This install shown a 06-07 but the steps are identical for the 04-05 Impreza, 08 Impreza, 04 Legacy, 05-07 Legacy, 08 Legacy, and the 06-08 Forester. We have a DIY Gallery here for other applications.

Some pre-steps. Read the included instructions and this DIY a few times to get a 'feel' for how are kits are applied. Gather all necessary materials and tools before starting. They can be installed outside, but wind and direct sun can be problematic.

Necessary items included with your order
Your Headlight Armor kit
Detail cloths (for cleaning and can be used to wrap thumb while applying kit)
Sharp knife (the snap off type shown at the end of the tutorial is ideal)
Hair Dryer - good if it is cool and really helpful for the final finishing of the edges regardless of temp.

Step 1: Pop off any garnish or surround that may be in front of your lenses. Clean the lenses. Clean your hands. Make sure there are no residues from the cleaning process remaining on the lenses or your hands.
Without removing the lens cover from the backing paper hold it up to the lens and make sure you have the correct one / orientation (i.e. Slightly ovoid lenses).

Step 2: If it is cool - below 65 degrees F gently warming the material with a hair dryer will help things along.
Carefully remove the cover from the backing paper - handling along the edges or with any handling tabs and gently place on the center of the lens dry.
You want to make sure you have them centered properly as the adhesive is very sticky.

Step 3: From the center out to the edges press the piece down firmly with your thumbs, being careful not to trap bubbles of air.

You are almost done. Go over the edges with a paper towel, pressing firmly to make sure all the edge is firmly sealed.
If it is cool - below 65 degrees F, going over the edges with a hairdryer on low can help the process along.
Re-install any garnish or surround and NOW you are DONE, yes it was that easy.

Hope getting a visual was helpful!
