Default How to: Aquamist HFS-5

Ok since a lot of people have been asking here is a short how to for the aquamist hfs-5 i did in my car not all the pictures are detailed but you will get the idea.

I want the pump mounted behind the tank and i wanted to use the stock IC tank So i started by removing the tank.

The thank is held in by two bolts and the plastic stub on the bottom outlined with the square of the tank after you remove the two bolts in the red circles you need to pull the tank towards the driver side and up at the same time. It will take a bit of force to get it out.

Next i removed the black plastic vent by pushing in the tabs and pushing it through. I then went to the rear drive side tire and removed the bolt and push tab things holding the rear bumper piece. You dont need to take the rear bumper all the way off just that one bolt and the tabs holding the black plastic piece was enough for me. I then drilled 3 holes for mounting the pump.

I took one of the cheap rubber door mats and cut a piece to put over the old air vent. And used the pump bolts to hold it in place. I then mounted up the pump.

I then mounted The relay up next to the pump here Dont mind the crappy connections they are temporary while i test out using both the dds level and the oem level in the tank.

I then wired the power wire which comes from the battery and mounted the ground next to the relay.

I ran the wires and the hose in a wire loom from the trunk under the passenger door sills.

I ran the wires out of the trunk here

Then from the backseat to the door sills

I ran the wires into the glovebox were i keep the dds3 board and the fia2 I drilled a hole in the top of the glovebox so it still opens and closes fine

I wired up the dds3 board all the wires are color coded from the pump and dds3 gauge.

I ran the high speed valve and flow sensor and hose out the firewall here on the passenger side. I used a thermal cam to make sure the temp did not get to hot.

I then added the aquamist level sensor while also using the stock oem sensor in the IC tank. I use the stock level sensor with the dds3 and the aquamist with the dummy light on the dash.

Then i had user Mycues1982 make me a brass barbed fitting to use the stock pump location to tap the tank. I had to cut some of the tank holder to make the hose fit better and so it would fit around the pump its highlighted in red.

Have any questions feel free to post. I mounted the dds3 gauge in a triple gauge pod above the clock. For the dimmer you want to tap a switched 12v dimmer. The one going to the clock pod works good. I will add how to tap the IC and install the jets at a later time

My flow sensor and highspeed valve are on a custom bracket mounted to the firewall behind the InterCooler. The jet is mounted on the underside of the IC before the throttle body if you take the IC off you will see a flat spot to dill and tap for the jet. I need to take my IC off again in a few days to change a jet so i will snap some shots then

You mean just feed off the stock pump instead of using the brass plug. Because the stock pump is not made to handle meth. and its is a little restrictive there is a wheel inside the pump that spins inline with the intake outake of it. So the aquamist pump would have to work a little harder even though its gravity fed. I would rather it be free flowing as much as possible.

Yes you can use the stock sensor. I use the stock sensor for the failsafe on the aquamist setup. And i use the aqaumist sesnor to trigger the ic light on the dash when its getting low. So i have warning before i run out.
